i'm not sure on the gm-specific ones, but i would have to say that they are programmable, so you will probably have to buy a new one. Having said that, if the dealership said it was "lost" when you bought it, you should tell them that they need to replace it, free of charge of course

Are you positive the car has the keyless entry option? If it doesn't, a new remote won't do anything.

They are, just need the right one. If this is post-deal, might be too late, unless they do it for good will. The dealer lost all but 1 key and remote for my Sentra... I worked a replacement into the deal pre-purchase... cause that replacement cost $225. (RFID security key)

yes im sure it has keyless entry. i talked to a pontiac rep and he verified that my car has keyless entry. we didnt find out till after the deal was done that they'd lost or didnt receive it. the car is used. they referred me to a local dealer, they said they could provide me one for about 60 bucks...

I have three or four hanging around. I got them from ebay when I thought my SE had the keyless entry.

a replacement KEY for my nissan is 98 bucks because of the stupid chip in it... the fobs are 75... 60 doesn't seem like such a bad deal :)

Yup, that's what mine were... plus $50 for using a Consult II to clear out the old missing keys and add the new one.

im looking into some on ebay. when they do the programing, do they have to do some rewiring in the car or can they just program the key to my car?
