used sprint/eibach springs from someone that wants to get rid of theirs. Or 300$ for a new set... it doesn tmatter much since springs are ust coild of hardened steel, they dont get broken or worn out as easily as other components.

Also, after lowering, youll want to get the car aligned, as the camber will most likely be off. I recommend getting new shocks/struts/strut mounts at the same time you do the springs so you dont have to tear apart the suspension more than once.

i just lowered mine. although i do agree with what is said above, i did keep my stock struts simply because a)i didnt have the money to get new ones and b) mine only had 40,000 miles on them, so i figured they still had a little life in them...

but springs and either now or later (i guess if you can do it yourself like i did) depends if you need the struts too... they wanted about 250 bucks to switch the springs for me... so me and a friend did it in the same amount of time they estimated.

id also say if you havent already and are thinking of lowering it, i would get the strut tower bars as well.... you'll love the things and they only take about 5 minutes each to install.

your camber won't need to be adjusted on the ga

The life of shocks / struts isn't the important factor... the better answer is that stock shit doesn't handle as well as aftermarket shit (provided you get reputible stuff), and if you are going for the most performance out of your suspension, all new parts are a must... don't for get bushings, and getting front and rear tower bars too (none of this is "required" for a drop though.... just springs will be the bare minimum)

the most popular strut for us is the kyb gr-2... you can get the gas adjust shocks for the rear, or go with Sach's shocks... stay away from monroe, midas shit

Not true, my 95 (identical suspension to 96-98) required the camber adjustment kit in order to perform the ailignment after lowering.

My friend kept his orgi. Shocks and his shit bounces and rides like shit. i would replace them. im planning on lowering my GA but Im waiting to get all the stuff and do it right the first time to avoid having to tear it apart and replace stuff at a later date.

that may come down to how good they guy doing the alignment is. I bought a camber kit, and the guy that aligned my car never had to use it. I'm running sprint springs (1.6/1.5 drop). The kits not expensive, so may as well get one just in case the shop prefers to use it.
