Thats the best way I can put it.

1986 Pontiac Grand AM 2.5L Tech 4

Okay. I'm having a problem and I can only guess at what is causing it. When I am driving, say 30mph and I depress the pedal, the engine delays a bit, and then revs higher however I feel no power going to the wheels. The engine will continue to rev higher then it will go back to normal and drive correctly.

This also happens when I am turning a corner. It doesnt matter the degree of the turn, whether its 90 or 15 degrees. A gentle turn, I could be travelling at 30mph and again the engine will rev high, while in drive, with no power going to the wheels and then it'll catch and drive correctly again.

Of course due to this problem I am also getting spurts, I step on the pedal, no reaction at the wheels, engine revving and then it takes off. All of this is in drive.

I have my ideas as to the problem, but I'm just a novice.

Is it an automatic?
If so I'd say the torque converter is giving up.

Check your auto trans fluid level first.

Yes its an Auto.

I check the fluid level, it was fine. Maybe the filter needs changing.
