Totally sorry if I spelled it wrong.
I need the serpentine belt replaced on my 95 SE. It has the v6 engine and from the outward appearance, it looks like you have to take some of the engine apart in order to replace the belt.
Is this true? Or is there an easier way?
Also, if anyone knows, how long does it generally take? I only ask because my job requires me to have my car and I'd like to plan when I have my days off. :D
Thanks!

I just did a search and this explains it all. The little bracket has to come off to be able to change the belt. Also a wrench to take the slack off the tensioner makes it extremely easy to put the new belt back on.
Without any problems, less than an hour. If you run into some problems...I say 2-4 hours.

I'm just lucky, I guess... I'm still in the process of learning... deeper things about my GA. I gotta get all the quirks fixed before I can start modding the pretty thing.
Since I've got your attention - I've another *coughofftopiccough* question for you... My cruise control only works when the car shifts in a lower gear. I can hear the engine enough to where I know when it will ant won't set. Any clue?

So it won't work at a highway speed? Weird...honestly I have no idea. Sorry.

It'll work at highway speed just fine. And any other normal speed. When it feels like it, that is. lol It comes and it goes. Thanks, though! I'll keep trying to research it.

Somewhere near the top is a kind switch, that turns the brake lights 'on' as the pedal is depressed.
It also turns the Cruise 'off', and prevents engagement.
Sometimes yer driving around with the brake light 'on' because an out-of-adjustment switch is causing that.
And preventing the cruise from engaging.
Just a thought.

On the serp belt, you do need to disconnect the motor mount bolts and nuts, but you don't need to completely remove that bracket.
With the bolts free and the engine lifted just a little, you can kinda 'snake' the old belt out and 'snake' the new one in.
Don't cut off the old one, use it as a reverse-process model for how to install the new one.
Have fun.

I never would have thought of that switch Rick...
As for that bracket, you're completely right. That's actually what I did...
This is why you can never leave this forum! lol
