Hello everyone! Taking delivery of a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT sedan on Sept. 11, 2006 here. Figured I'd look around to see what can be done (modifications) to these cars and stumbled across this site.

My name is Matt. I'm 29 and live in South Central PA (outside of Harrisburg). I work as a Professional Driver transporting railroad personnel throughout PA, NY, NJ, DE, MD, VA, and WV. This Grand Am probably won't see the ton of mileage like I've put on previous cars (Highest was over 199,000 miles on a '93 Saturn SL2), since my job puts me in a 2006 Chevy Express AWD that I get to take home with me every night (I work 6 days per week).

My initial love of Grand Ams started when I was about 12 or 13, and my father and I were walking past a pre-owned car dealer who had an '89 Grand Am SE coupe with a 5-speed manual transaxle, High-Output Quad 4 engine, and fully loaded. I rode with my dad on the test drive and I was hooked by how comfortable it rode, how well it handled, and just how fast it could accelerate and go. Unfortunately, he never bought the car.

My second love was about 2 years ago when I was shopping for another car (my '95 Neon took a dump - no surprise there! LOL) and found a '96 SE 5-speed coupe. I was hooked on the test drive and SHOULD have put a deposit down then. I didn't and regretted it since.

Last december I fell through financially and had to give up my 2000 Ford ZX2. I ended up moving back home and buying an '86 Ford Aerostar cargo van off my old neighbor for $300. It ran well until the starter jammed in an ice storm one night and blew the electrical system entirely.

I recently started car browsing and went to a friend of mine who owns a dealership. I test drove the Grand Am GT and fell in love with it instantly (more than the SE coupe). I asked him if he could hold it for me until I could come up with all the money needed ($1000 down). He said no problem. It will be in my driveway in two weeks from now.

So, all that said...Glad to be here, and hope to meet a few cool people. Maybe find me a special lady who loves Grand Ams and lives near me too. (I couldn't be so lucky LOL).

-Matt
