This was not a fun project, but its finally on, after lots of beer, swearing, and blisters, its on. Not where I would like it to be, but thats as high as I can get the rockers to go.

Oh yea, that other car in the pics is my old man's 1951 Pontiac Cheifton, its all original with 70,000 miles on it. He drives it a lot, so its doing great!

lots and lots of double sided 3M tape and a couple neatly placed unseen sheet metal screws.

Man this thread couldn’t have started at a better time. Totally sweet looking!! :thumbup2: I just got my kit yesterday. Now I’ve got to find someone to paint the pieces. I’m taking it that you installed this yourself. I’m kicking that idea around myself. I called a custom shop yesterday and they said they need the car for about a month??? Thanks I’ll look somewhere else. I don’t think Elmer had any idea what I was talking about. The pieces showed up looking real good, the only thing I noticed so far is some of the 3M backing was coming off especially around the bends in the molding. Probably needs replaced when it comes time to install.

you are probably better off having a shop do the instal and having them epoxy the kit to the car. the 3M tape sometimes isnt strong enough to hold it to the car. as well as the rear fascia piece needs sometimes to be stretched. trust me do it right the first time instead of wasting money and doing it several. it will be worth it in the long run. you can tell that shop that youll drop pieces off to be painted and they should only need the car for 2-3 days total. 1 to take the old cladding off and test fit the new pieces, and then a couple hours to install the new pieces. the front you can easily do yourself. just have the sides and rears doen professionally.

Thanks for the input blackgt2k. Thinking about it again last night and this morning, the sides look like they’d be a pain in the butt. I haven’t test fitted the pieces yet, that’s today project. But you have a good point, having a professional install it is the best choice. I like to tackle this kinds of projects myself, but on the flip side, I don’t want them to fall off or looking like crap on such a sweat car. So the search begins or a quality body shop.

you just need to find someone who can epoxy. i have my sides with the 3M tape and portions are pealing off. Ive seen 3 kits do that already. though my back bumper piece hasnt moved....

everything is sticking nicely, the big thing you have to remember is to make sure the surfaces where you are sticking the 3M tape are clean of grease, wax, everything right down to the clear coat. So far nothing has started to come loose yet.

My wheels are 18s and Chrome, I used to have the 185s in chrome but sold them to get the 18s. If they only made the 185s in 18s.

As for doing it yourself, its not bad, but I ran into a few snags here and there, so if you have never done anything like find a buddy that has and ask for help.

Make that 4 lol, mines doing the same thing, I've already re-taped it once, plus, just like everyone else's, mine didnt line up right. My friend owns a body shop, he's gonna rework the kit for me this winter.

Hmm.. This is all good info being passed around. I haven’t had a chance yet to test fix the pieces. Got side tracked installing seat heaters instead. But I’m defiantly going to have the body shop install it. I’ve been kicking around the idea about not putting the side on. I’m debating if it’s going to look silly with just the rear on, with no side to match up with. Test fitting will show this. But the fact is I bought the whole kit, so I’d might as well install the whole thing. I hope there aren’t any aliment issues as the cars straight as an arrow.

i will tell ya, this, cause i put my front and rear on b4 the sides... your car will look like the biggest telephone from a distance...the front and rear would be 2 inches lower..if you have the sides, put them on...the only piece u could get away with is the rear not being on...though why not put them on if you have em...

Point well taken. That’s what I thought. Problem is, there aren’t any really good pic’s on the web with the body kit installed. There’s more pic’s with the front air dam then real close up of the rear or side. The pic’s that H.O. posted are HOT!! The only real difference is I’ve got a 4 door. After seeing pic’s with the kit installed it’s hard to look at a standard GA with out it. The GA just looks plain without it. Can’t see why Pontiac didn’t offer this as an option. The only thing they did offer with the SC/T hood in 03 and up. I remember when aftermarket companies started offering the hood back on 01 and thought it was totally sweet looking. Glad GM decided to use the hood.

Eagle Allow 077 They come in a 115x5 and a 114.3x5 (sized dependent) If you still have the 96 you need a 100x5 so they won't fit.
