Hey guys, i'm thinking of installing a CAI in my 3100, but i go to school in north dakota, and when i'm not here i'm in minnesota, so i have a lot of snow to worry about during the winter.
Just so you know i have read the faq on this, but i'm still curious about how much risk there is in sucking up snow and water, and how you guys prevent this.
Also, if anyone could possibly take a few pics of their CAI, and the intake i would very much appreciate it. Thanks

from my understanding you should be fine depending on where you put it at. if you put it in the front fender wall it should be fine

oh thanks a ton for the quick response, and those pics helped a lot
btw i love the green headlights in your avatar
EDIT: Ok, i'm not seeing a lot of options for a 3100, i've looked around and can't find much
any suggestions for a cai kit would be great....obviously i can get like the filter from k&n but i the rest of it i have no idea....

ok change of plans....due to my laziness and the fact that i will be getting a new car in the near future, i've decided to go with a wai. So if anyone has got any tips on this, they would be much appreciated:P .
I've got a 95 gt 3100, and finding stuff for it is next to impossible...

3100, any intake will pretty much have to be made urself. WAI is easy though just need a short pipe and filter.

Buy a cheap civic intake from ebay for like $10 and slap a filter on it!

good idea
i got an email back from the guy at dr. speed, saying he would have to custom make one for the 95 because he doesn't think it has sensors or vent tube inlets
what exactly is different between my engine stock intake, and a 96's stock intake?
oh and thanks for answering all my questions so far, i'm still learning

you don't have a MAF, basically.

well i orded a cheap one from ebay, i'll be picking up a k&n cone filter whenever it arrives
i found something someone else did on here, which was basically leaving on the flex tubing that connects to the airbox, and just replacing the airbox with the piping/conefilter. So I'm thinking this is what i'll try out....so yeah I'll let you know how it goes/how much i screw up:P

I looking to make a CAI out of ABS plastic, just run it straight off of the intake, move the battery to where the air box is, put a cone filter on it. I'd have to drill holes for the MAF, tell me what you think.

so ahh is that going to cause problems not having an maf?

you aren't supposed to have a MAF. no problem not having one; actually a CAI is easier to build without it because you only need one bit of pipe instead of two.

you don't "drill holes for the maf" lol.. i think you have it confused with the oil return line or another sensor. this is a MAF:

it goes in-line in the intake tube. i hope your plastic doesn't melt. i would feel much better about a metal pipe than a plastic tube.. meh, at least you're not talking about dryer tubing.

the rubber pipe that's stock on the car isn't the best thing in the world for airflow. you'd be better off with a smooth pipe, but it'll do.

really, this is about the simplist mod you can do to your engine. just pop open the hood and take a good look at it.. you'll figure something out. =)

yea i'm using metal for mine (with exception of the flex tube)
thanks for the help voyager

There's a line, but also a sensor, at the bottom, is it a O2 sensor?
It might be. Im just thinkin ABS plastic, Paint it white, it's cheaper.

wow just got the intake today, its actually really nice, and came with a k&n cone filter
won't be able to install until next weekend though...can't wait
the only problem is idk if the flex tube will be able to support the weight of the intake....hmmm might have to rig up some kind of a support

Just put it on this weekend, and i'm fairly happy with it. Car sounds MUCH nicer between 3k rpms and up, and its a little bit peppier than before. Best part about it....took about 10 min
