Well I was starting to worry about miles on the Cobalt SS/SC. So, I bought a 2nd car to drive to work during the week.

Just got it last night so I havent done anything to it other than fixing some interior rattles last night.

Its got the leather (as you can see) Manual, sunroof, in dash cd changer. I'm going to repaint the calipers soon (they were red to I'll stick with that). I think im going to replace the tail lights with the stock 03-05 lights.

Anyway here are the pictures

Because its a lease and I'm at 9,100 miles in 5 months. Out of 15K a year. I knew I would eventually run into this problem but didnt think I would be driving as much as I have.

I actually wanted to get a 2002 5 speed Grand Am but they are really hard to locate. I found one in Portland OR, but thats like 32 hours away from me.

XoticGA-I'm not a chevy person so I take no offense to that joke. I bought the car because it wasnt very expensive, it was fast, and i was surprised it gets excellent gas mileage too.

Well if you like it... lol
I haven't been much of a fan of them, I personally liked the older ones better.

My mother had a 2003 Eclipse GT with a V6 (not sure if they all are V6s or not) and I must say I was far from impressed with it. She has since traded it in for a '06 Tiberon and likes the Tibby alot better.

My sister inlaw also owns a 2001 Eclipse and has her issues with it running poorly.

Yeah I agree the generation before this one was better. But, I couldnt find any locally for a good price that were in good condition. I got a really good deal that I couldnt refuse on it.

Only the GT and the GTS have V6's in the last generation Eclipse.

I know you probably already thought of this, but there's no need to worry about the mileage on your lease should you plan to purchase the car at the end of the lease. Otherwise it's a good idea to purchase additional miles (fully refundable if unused) at a reduced rate up front.

Even still, it's nice to own 2 cars. And though I've never driven one, I like the looks of the Eclipse. :)

Thats why I didnt purchase it because then I would have a 6-8,000 negative trade in value. Also I bought a new house in february so I wanted to have a low payment until I knew how things would work out (it was my first house on my own). So thats why I choose the Cobalt even though I think chevy is kinda boring (the exception being the corvette)

Shawn- I didnt think at the time that I bought that car I would be going over 15K a year. But, with my new job I was able to take some vacations and the miles have started to add up. Also I got an extremly good deal on the eclipse if I sold it right now I would make money so I just couldnt say no to the deal.

I am definantly not purchasing the Cobalt at the end of my lease. Its a great car for a few years but past that I dont think its right for me.I may just drive the eclipse for awhile and then trade it in right before winter for an SUV with 4 wheel drive.

 The 2g Eclipses were horrible in terms of reliablity, much much worse than the 3g Eclipse or 2g Stratus Coupe.

I have put 20k miles on my Stratus Coupe and I have replaced a slave cylinder.

My 99 GAGT in 10k miles had such a list of problems it was sad.

It seems like there were many wrinkles to iron out with the early-production 1999 models. My '99 SE was the same way. My '03 has been a dream.

I think that definitely was the case. I have also heard the same thing.

Lol it doesnt have all that much to do with money, I just know people and have a few distant family members who have dealerships. The only time I really spent a lot of money was to lease the Cobalt. I paid all the negative value on the 04 Grand Am.... (that was more than I paid for the eclipse).

Well this one seems to be fine Its got about 60,000 miles on it and I have a full service history on it. I dont see anything out of the ordinary and nothing seems to be wrong yet....other than the junky sunroof. But I have heard about reliability issues also. But either way it wasnt that much money.

My friend has a Eclispe and it's been trouble for her too, but then again she is far from a car person so who knows the lack of maintenance. I saw one where I bought my car. But yours looks nice:) I like it, hope it works out for you.
