Hi and yes I'm a newbie to the whole Grand Am think. I purchased a 99 GT-1 in 2003 with 37,000 miles. I was like wow! What a nice looking car, low mileage, and for what I paid, an excellent deal!! Since THEN!

By the way, do ALL the repairs yourself, they are actually pretty easy.

1. 39,000 miles - Intake Manifold Gaskets

2. 41,000 miles - Power Steering Pump/Alternator

3. 57,000 miles - All the windows regulators went bad within a week! WOW

4. 57,000 - For Sh*ts and giggles - Replaced the water pump, lower radiator hose, and thermostat. By the way, the thermostat is tricky, but got it done in a couple of hours. =)

5. What will happen next! =) Ohh yeah, need to replace the rotors! LOL

I love the car, but WOW, that is craziness!!

I think that I'm really going to like this Forum!

Well what happens next is you spend a year and alot of money tweaking and making the car run great........then the wife leaves you and takes the car...........3 month's later you get a letter saying your car still runs excellent and she is proud of you but her boyfriends car is running rough and could you take a moment to look at it.

Happy now? .................:}

Take Care, Pete

Yeah, I think it is a lemon, but I really do think that most of this can be worked out, I just hope that nothing goes wrong with the INTERNAL parts, because I would hate to have to pull the engine, but if I have to I will. Pontiac really made these cars pretty easy to work on if you ask me, maybe they were anticipating problems.
