Black cars....absolutely STUNNING when they are clean.....but show dirt very easily. I suppose if you waxed it when it started to get dusty just rinse it with some water and dry it off real well.

Two words: California Duster. Get one, keep it in the trunk, and use it as directed. When my car gets dusty I give it a quick going over with the duster and it looks awesome again. Of course, if it rains, gets muddy, or whatever, you're going to have to break out the bucket and washmitt. ;)

I have an old California Duster without instructions. I just dust. Is there something special I should know about? Can you clean these things or does it lose its 'magnetism'? Anyone use the blade to get water off the car. My very black '03 GT gets dirty before I'm even done drying it off! I figure the blade thing would get most of the water off quicker and then I could use the terry towel to get the rest.

Every mechanic and body shop employee I have talked to about them say they scratch the clear coat.

With a good coat of wax and proper use, they should not harm the finish. I thought that too until I bought one.

I'm a car washer/detailer at a 5 Star Chrysler dealership and we use the blade on every car we wash. It's made of a soft rubber and as long as there isn't like sand on the car, it won't scratch. It works great to get almost all of the water off of the car and then that way, you just have to dry in the tight spots that it doesn't fit in (like around the window seals and windshield washer nozzels if they're on the hood). With a good coat of wax (not just the spray on stuff at the car wash) the blade won't hurt the finish on your car at all. You don't even need to really press when you use it, it works great if you just kind of drag it along.
