For those of you that got custom exhaust done at a shop, how good are they when it comes to making the tips pretty even?

Most shops with a good reputation have it for a reason. When i had my truck i had my exhaust done by my local OK tire who is known to good owrk in the area. Well they did both tips looked pretty well identicle. But with my GA OK tire was busy and i couldn't get it in for almost two months so i brought it to a local shop and well, shitty job is all i have to say. I found out afterwords alot of people have had problems with the shop.
So just ask around, Ask the shop if they will re-weld if your not satisfied. Most shops will. Most shops can get it pretty damn even. So good luck to you.

Yea, it will depend on the shop and how much care they put into tip ailignment. I had mine done at a shop with one of the best reputations on the east coast... and they have them ailigned perfectly.
Ask before you let them do any work. Tell them you want them even and aligned and that you won't accept less. Good places will do it right and don't have a problem with it. If they balk or say things like "Sure, sure.", then find another shop. It's YOUR car, you have the right to have it done your way.

^Yes... and really good exhaust specialty shops will often have pics (online or on the wall) of previous exhaust systems they fabricated.

If a shop tells you they can not make them even, laugh at them and go somewhere else.

my tips are aligned perfect i cant tell if they're off. When i got mine installed they actually requested me to come there and look at them to see if it looked right. but as everyone else said ask around and try to stay away from places like midas.

some shops will even go as far as having you look at them before they fully weld the tips on,they will just tac them into place, have you step back and look at them if you give the ok they go from there. I personally rather have them do that so I know 100% its to MY liking. But if you ask around you'll find out quick which shop(s) in your area have a good rep

Thats not true I work at a midas and we have one of the best reputations in our area for exhaust . it might not be the same everywhere else.

Ummm...is it really THAT hard to get them aligned? I mean, just measure and weld, right? Not rocket science..

Umm, it's harder than you think. Sometimes the measurements change when/after you weld it.

Will the SLP or Borla Duals fit under the SE bumper since it is designed a bit different than the GT's?

I went to a good shop in town and the guy had me check the tips twice before welding them. But I guess one of the tips got slightly moved while he was welding because the right one is a bit off. I should go back again.

Midas is the most highly recommended installer in my area. From dealerships and from aftermarket parts stores.

The exhaust on my GTP is pretty much perfectly aligned. The guy I had do my exhaust had me look at it two or three times and even put the level on the tips before fully welding them on to make sure they were perfect. Any shop that cares about their work should do something similar.
