To those installing a CAI on 96-98

I would highly recommend that you use a smaller air filter, such as the short cylindrical K&N filter.

The ones that get wider towards the base make it a bitch and a half to get the fender wall back in since there is such little room behind it. I've got one of the ones that get wider towards the base, and it's pushing hard against the fender wall. Just an FYI. I'm sure it's possible to get them to fit in there better than mine, but it's gonna be one hell of a tight fit reguardless.

Sounds like a good idea...But I fit mine behind there without too much trouble. It was a 5" filter I think.

Having the cone straight instead of tapering will definitely make it easier to fit in there though that's for sure.
