I have a 96 grand am with the 2.4l engine. I recently replaced the power steering pressure hose, due to a leak and when turning at low speeds, like turning into a parking space, there is a creaking noise coming from the front of the car. Any help wil be greatly appritiated.

This could be your strut mounts. The same thing happened to me.

Is it a popping sound (strut plates) or are you hearing a squeeky bed sound?
My struts sound really squeeky and make a bunch of noise on speed bumps and dips, if you haven't had those replaced I am guessing that is the culprit.

I believe it is the struts now because there is a rattling while driving, either the bushing where the strut mounts up top is bad or the strut is shot. Once I get my paycheck in 2 weeks I am going to pick up 2 front struts and some ball joints. If I fix my 02 sensor problem (see 96 computer swap in problems and solutions).

Rattling and squeeking are two different animals. The rattling is most likely sway bar links (stabilizer links), the squeeking is most likley the upper strutt mounts...shoot some penetrant into the upper strutt towers, into the bushing...see if it decreases or goes away.

Funny thats exactly what GM tells there mechanics to do! If its noise load it down with lube until it shuts up and wait for the warrenty to run out before replacing them.

Mine did the same thing....1/4 can of liquid wrench spray lube and its quite as hell and alot smother.

$5 fix's are great

yea, they are great for a short fix,but to be a cheaper isn't my cup of tea ,i like to really fix the problem the rigth way, replacing the upper strut mounts with new ones for a longer and positive fix
