My 96 GA SE keeps on destroying my washer fluid pumps. I replaced it twice with no luck. They both ran for a second and then quit. In fact the first washer pump I replaced came out of my 94 s10 blazer (it was the same exact pump). The second was one I bought from a auto parts store. Both times I didn't run the pump until I had the reseivor filled. Any Ideas on this pump killer. My window needs a good cleaning every now and then, but I would rather not have to use a windex bottle. That is just too ghetto or too much of a redneck, what ever you prefer to be worst.

I would check to make sure it spinning in the correct direction and that the hoses aren't plugged.

Too much power getting to the motor?
Hoses blocked (too much resistance)?
Wires connected properly (and securely)?

I found out that the pump is still good by hooking it up directly to the battery. I also made sure the hoses arn't block and the wires arn't crossed. I tested the voltage and got no reading so there must be a break in the wire some where. My idea is to install a small button on the dash and wire the pump to the button. This would be much easier than trying to follow the wire to test it. If anyone knows how to easily test the wiring please reply or email. My email is the same as my name here except include @yahoo.com

Put the switch on the floor so you can hit it with your left foot. Easier to wire and you keep both hands on the wheel.

You should check the fuses first.

all the fuses in the fuse boxes are fine, unless there are some inline fuses i don't know about.

Even if its fine, replace it anyway. Get out the fvolt meter and start probing wires while you shake them around. Or just go ahead and replace the wiring as far back as you can go and see if that helps.
