99+ in a 97

Can the 99+ speakers fit in a 97 GT? I want to install the 99+ trim instead of having the speakers hidden behind the seats.

speaker sizes are the same, but not sure what your looking to do as far as the rears...?

I'm guessing you want to put the grilles from a 99+ car on your car? Could be done but you'd have to cut the rear deck accordingly.

Pretty much a completely useless "mod" IMO... There's no point in swapping the speakers (as they are probably pretty similar) and the grilles might look out of place. 6x9s in the rear are pretty much a complete waste of time as it is. The deck on the 96-98 cars does have vent holes (hidden in the carpet) for the sound to come through but it's actually better with the deck there instead of the 99+ grille because the deck at least blocks out/attenuates some of the high frequency information from the rear speakers...

^ :agree: If you want to have them visible, cut a hole and put the grill on there. I did this in my old Regal GS and it made absolutely no sound difference what so ever. I think it's a waste and you would be better off spending your time on a different area of the car. But that's just me.
