Hey guys I had a little question I needed to ask. My friend and I have been talking about tenting our windows on our cars for a while. Only thing thats stopping me(not him) is the law. In IL the law is any percent tint on rear window and rear side windows, but front windows cant have any tint on them. Problem with me is I got a 2 door lol so if I was to follow the law it wouldnt look right with that little triange window tinted and the rear window tinted. So I was wondering is it just a waste to get tinted windows for 2 door cars in IL??? Do the cops really care about it??? I saw xoticGAs car has tints all around(I think). If you read this have you ever gotten trouble from having tints all around??

Most states have tint laws, most people do it anyway. I dont want to suggest you go out and break the law but most times your fine and other times you get pulled over a day after you get them.

Here in louisiana, it's anything on back and sides, and 50 on the front doors I have 5 on back and rear doors, 20 on front doors. Take your chance as you choose.

Yea I guess Im just gonna take a risk. I wont tint them really dark though, just enough to keep those nosey people walking down the street from staring at me at a red light. I really hate when people do that...

I have 20% all around. Its against the law and i get pulled over like twice a month, but its well worth it. Makes your car look 100 times better. Just go for it.

I used to live in Chi and Peoria.

I got stopped by a trooper between Bloomington and PEO and I was NOT speeding (when he saw me). About the tint, he gave me a choice... take a ticket or pull off the tint IMMEDIATELY. I took it off and he let me go.

Just FYI...he also gave me a verbal warning about the eyebrow on my front window being more than 6-inches. Later I got a written warning for the same thing, but I never took it off. The local boys in Chi gave me a warning about my neon. It was purple and behind the rear diffuser.

All this was before I put on the :ben: wing.

one of my buddies has tint on his grand prix and has had 3 fix it tickets. he just pays them. but when we were talking about it one time somebody mentioned a place out in cali where u can buy windows with the tint already in them and can be legal to an extent.

I don't have any problems, and I have 35% on my fronts.. and 5% on the back

I'm soon swapping to 20% on the fronts, and don't anticipate any problems..

But is also depends on where you live.. And you're around Blue Island, Dolton.. And I'm guessin Cal City? Cal City cops will get you for breathing too hard.. So becareful with that.. But in all the times, I've past cops I've never *knock on wood* been cited. And I even had a cop come up to me a stop light and gesture for me to roll my window down to tell me I had a nice car

Cool thanks for all your inputs guys. Im going to go ahead and get tints and maybe get some black tires and when i get the money paint my car black(I love black(I especially like XoticGAs car, wanna sell it??? :P)) I dont drive around cal city alot most of the time i will be on the north side of chicago with my car or downtown. Only time I will be over on the southside is when Im at home lol.

If I may suggest a good place..

Mr. 50's Customs.. Awesome guys to deal with

They're in Chicago Heights on Western & Rt. 30.. It's right behind the gas station, his shop is actually inside Currie Motors

People with 25 or 20%, can you see well at night? That could be also something to think about for some people like me who have bad night vision.

It just takes a period of time to adjust.. It was hard to see out of my 5% the first week or so.. But now, I don't even notice it

You could do 5 or 20% on the rear and 35%on the front. That shouldnt be a problem.

i think it looks so much better if the whole tint is matched rather han split, like 20 all the way around rather than 35 / 5. but if you like it go for it, just putting in my 2¢

go with 20 rears and 30 fronts. it'll look less like patch work. :) if it were me though, id be consistant. either 20 all around, or 30 all around or whatever you want. :)

below is 18% on the back and 35% (which actually meters around a 30) on the fronts.

I'm planning on getting tints in the next couple of weeks. I'm going to go with 5% in the back, and 20% up front. I wanted 35% up front, but my friend suggested I get the 20% instead. That's what he has on his car and it looks pretty good.
