This is a warm air intake. You want to be sucking cold air for more HP. Look for one that replaces the stock intake in the fender well. You'll be glad you did.

Thats an expensive WAI. At least it gets rid of both boxes though.
you can fab a heatshield for it so its not sucking all the hot air. And maybe run some of that flexible duct hose from underneatht the car or sumtin. Atleast its safe from water up there unless you live at some hot dry area where it dont matter. here in VA cars hydrolock all the time.

i can buy this intake and take a 3 inche steel flexible tube to place the air filter to the fender
it will be like an AEM but home made with all the corect sensor and hose install :)
what do you think of that ??

this kit loks kinda nice, then youre gonna nasty it up with dryer hose??? you can get a CAI for a 3400 to finish off this WAI kit that youre looking at, or you can be happy with a short ram intake. honestly, CAI desont get you any more hp (maybe 1) but the car runs slightly cooler. i felt no difference between my short ram and my CAI.

in theory short ram should give you a nice pull and nice noise.
i have yet to do mine, but i do intend.
the best thing for an intake is to provide a laminar flow of air to the throttle body. Dense air (cold air) does help, but it is not essential as when the air reaches the tb its been warmed and its hot. specialy not on this engine.(how ever with extensive mods, colder air will see more gain)
IMO this air intake is too twisty and turny, something straighter and shorter will do better,
specially with a cat job, ur going to get nice pull and nice noise.
my last cold air intake costed me something like 40-50$cnd with a 3" cone filter and a flexi tube the bend is minimal and its a full cold air intake for my bonneville.
either way the gain is minimal if you have no supporting mods.
best way for cheap power is to keep up with all the maintenance on a 2.2L plugs, wires, clean intake, healthy fuel system, strong tranny.

the design is widely used from many of the big name companies,AEM,Injen,etc.... Don't see how you could make a straight intake because of things in the way. Twists won't really matter much since we're only talking a single or 2 hp's. The metal is smooth anyways unlike the stock intake system.
Im much happier with my AEM WAI then when it was a CAI.
But otherwise it just looks like nice knock off of the AEM,Injen,etc... intakes, atleast its not just plain chrome aluminum tubing like most others on e-bay

for over 100$USD thats a rip off- its straight rice sorry if im hurting feelings- but its for looks, its giving you a different alternative to your airbox, but its not really giving a better one.
I could understand if you had boost or a cam, or a stronger engine vacuum- we're dealing with the 2.2l here.
I just dont like to see people waste money, and the say
damn i could have used that money to keep up the maintanance on my car. Specially with something as simple as an intake.
you'll see when i do mine, the most expensive thing will be the filter. And i do have more mods planned, i still have to get to know the engine better (i just got the car about a week ago.)
and i bet you it will out flow that 100$ intake by 200%. :D
just my two cents and i do not mean to be offensive
cheers
carlos
ps.. i just realised Solix, we have the same ride...what colors is urs??, mine is silver.. did you shave and remove stickers yet?.

naw i havent modified my intake yet.
i recently got this car, and have been too busy to do anything.xcept oil change.
(at only 19,000kms i am not worried)
on the weekend i plan to shave, and remove stickers,
wash and wax
and plan out the intake (im probably not going to do the intake, untill i have a highflow cat,new plugs, wires, fuel filter, pvc and im going to give the TB a good hose-down and remove MAF screen).
If budget permits i suggest you do the same, this way ur intake should give you more HP than if you'd do your intake now. All of this will probably run around the 150-200$, but your gain will be alot more.
im goin to see if i can find a 3" k&n at stores- if not i will have to order. i will post pictures of the intake once its done.
But its one of the easiest intakes to do(all intakes ive done are about 10-20 minute jobs.)
the thing that i really liked about the way the TB is position to the engine- if you plan to do extensive mods, that TB is the perfect location for a well developed intake system (thats if ur willing to cut your hood)

isnt the diameter of the tb 3".
hooking up a 4" pipe wont do anything but cause turbulance.
You will never outflow a 3" diameter stock, nevertheless a 4".
that intake doesnt even seem like it comes with a k&n air filter.
Most shitty brand cone air filters are not based on the same design as k&n they just look like it.
so these filters retain mostuire(this will rob you of hp), most of them cant be oiled (ur cotton cone filter is useless without oil)
so when u get this 100$ intake, ur going to have to spend another 50-100$ on a good filter.
IMO ur paying 100$ for shiny pipes. Im sure you can do much better your self with some creativity and understanding what a modified intake is supposed to do on ur engine.
