well im about sick of looking all over the internet for a borla catback system made for the 99+ GA SE. it doesnt exsist. especially not for the 2.2l ecotec engines. som heres my thots. i dont know if im right but i dont think cat back systems come with headers. they just bolt to the originals. right? so in that case i should proly be able to get a cat-back for the GT and extend it or something. would this be a bad idea or waste iof money. or are there other people who have done similar things. i dont think it would be hard to do this. would i be better off trying to make my own custom cat-back and hook it to the borla muffler? please share your thots on this and ill let you know what i decideto do.
thank you.

I believe if I am not mistaken, that I read on here that the Borla cat back will work fine in the 4 cylinder. One of the members that have been here longer than me may remember.

Cat back systems bolt/weld onto the end of your existing catalytic converter, so there are no headers with it. The only difference, if I'm not mistaken (which could very well be possible), between GT and SE exhausts is the size of the piping, GT having 2.5, SE with 2.25. The Borla kit is 2.25, although I think it can be fitted to a GT. For the price of the Borla kit (~$700+ U.S.) you could get a custom exhaust and have money left over to buy some more stuff for your car (or make a payment on it). Try getting some quotes from local exhaust shops and see what it would cost for a custom cat-back with muffler(s). Hope you find a nice sounding and performing exhaust.

ok kool i have been working on finding a local exaughst shop but so far no luck. my big consern is i want a performance sytem that isnt so lound u can hear it from a mile away. sure i want a little more sound but not to much the borla cat-back is exactly the soundiwant so i hope i can findthat somewhere. i just need to look around more. or better yet i knowi can purchase piping siutable for this project. and i also have welding skills that will do just fine. maybe since it wont be to damn expensive to buy the pipe i think i might make the down pipe myself then just hook on a performance muffler. ill have to do price checks on some stuff like that. itd just be another bragging right. lol. o well i think ill figure itout some how. thanks for the help, ill keep u updated

The SLP and the Borla cat back systems bolt right up to any 99+ cars. Doesn't matter what engine or model.
I have the SLP on my ecotec. It has a nice sound but didn't make any difference in high or low end performance.
BTW, I tried to answer your PM about polishing and somehow it said that your user name was not valid. It also erased what I had written. Quick answer is that I bought a spare valve cover and installed it after it was polished. I'll look up the links I found and send another.

well first things first, the GASE comes with 2" piping and nothing more. As for building your own exhaust, always remember that both the SLP and Borla systems are 1-stainless steel and 2-mandrel bends, both of which greatly increase your price. Also, you would need to purchase a high-flow cat, a res and a muffler to build your own system. However, custom I believe is the way to go :)

Out of curiosity, why would he have to purchase a resonator? There are tons of people who remove thier's on purpose.

if you have heard the exhaust without a res, you will see why. The tone is far too raspy, ( at least in my experience with my exhaust ). A nice 18" res will do wonder to smooth out the sound and make it more pleasant... Not too loud, but can open up a roar when you want to

I guess opinions vary, I LOVE mine without the resonator. I do not find it raspy at all, Ah the greatness of America. Free to choose how ya like it.

Hey thanks for tryin man. lately ive been pulling my cover off when ever i had free time and no where to go. i havent gotten much done tho. im not even done with the first grit of sand paper. never the less ill get there sometime.
as for the exhaust i think im just gonna call it off. if im not gonna get at least a slightly noticable power increase then its kinda pointless. o well. thanks for the help everyone.
