View Full Version : will these pistons fit my car?

Anyone know if pistons from 99-01 will fit in 96-98 2.4l??? I called GM and they are different part #s but they didn't know if they were interchangeable or not. I found a good deal on a set and I am rebuilding my engine and would like to save some cash if I can. Anyone know?

are you talking about the twin cam pistons? if so, I dont believe any modifications were done to the newer twin cams

they should. Motor is identical to the 96-98 2.4. Just has no EGR and ECM is programed a little different.

They'll have different part #'s because its a different year and the motor externally changed a tiny bit.

Just check specs on them to make it a 100% for sure thing

iirc there was a slight piston change from 96-99 and 00up motors... id have to check with my friend but i believe that is the case so using the newer pistions with result in a (read:) very slight compression ratio change.
