I've had my 3100 powered 96 GA for about a month now...and have run 3 complete tanks of gas through it - two of them regular 89 octane, and the last one premium at 91 octane (since price went down)

a pal said I might notice more KM's on a tank with premium...but it was the opposite? The first two tanks I got almost identical - just about 500 km on a full tank...mixed city/highway, but mostly city. The last (premium) tank I got about 400 before gasing up. To be fair, I didn't wait for the low-fuel light that time :)

What is everybody else getting? in terms of KM's per tank and type of driving? What do you guys look for on the 3100 that degrades fuel economy? I know a good tuneup (plugs/wires/o2's/fuel filter helps, but anything else that makes a notable difference?

Its not that the car is /bad/ on gas....just wanna make sure that I'm getting what I could be :) By contrast, my 2.8L S15 Jimmy got me about 350 km on a $65 tank :)

Ok well I see anywhere between 300-360 miles before filling up (before light comes on) so you aren't that far off. (Miles, not KM) And I have never noticed more Miles per Gallon with premium than with regular 89 octane. I was on premium for like 2 years straight but am on 89 again now and there isnt a difference....

i run about 28 to 31 mpg on really long trips like 300 miles (which is about the distance between home and college)
not too sure about city driving, havn't really tested that

If I could lighten my lead foot I'd get 24-26 mpg with 94 oct.

94? damn isnt that a waste>? we have low compression, like 9.5/1 so technichaly isnt 94 wasting money? i duno maybe theres a thread about gas types on here

im getting around 550 km or roughly 350-360 miles(?) on a tank, do a mix of city/driving. going to replace my fuel filter soon, hasnt been done in years so maybe i might get some more out of it

it all depends on your driving habbits, i like to let the car glide to a stop or when i need the brake when at lights.. etc always checking my tire pressure and instead of letting the car run when cold is let it run for 25-30 secs then drive slow to warm to engine up. i add fuel injector cleaners when i fill up but only add when your really low so that it can mix with the gas well. other then that, i thinks that the tops for most 3.1

the very first full tank I put through the car went just over 500 km to the gas light coming on...so I'm not far off I don't think. the car definitely deservers a full tuneup - i'm sure that will net me a few as well...

usely how many more kilometers roughly you get once the gas lights turns on?

On the highway 93 octane usually gives me about an extra 3-5 miles per gallon over 89 octane, but in stop and go or slow traffic 93 octane usually gets similar milage for me as 89 and sometimes lower by about 3-5 if traffic is bad. I use gas treatment roughly every 1500 miles and when I get the opportunity in a rural area to buy gas without ethanol, I take it every time.

Look in your car manual and see what it suggests you use. If you use higher then that you are just wasting money. Of course if you have some pretty big engine mods then you need higher grade fuel but if you are still stock just use what is recommended.
