need suggestions on perf. mods

Hey, I'm new here. I don't drive a Grand Am or anything. I drive a 95 Eclipse GS-T actually. I'm in the Marines and am currently deployed in the middle east because of the whole iraq b.s. anywho, im gettin some nice pay over here, and im getting a crap load of stuff for my eclipse. well i got a buddy back at home who's in college and doesn't quit make the money i do due to college payments and whatever. Well I figured I be a nice guy and get him a little something since he's one of my best friends. He has a red 99 Grand Am GT. I really don't know much about your cars, but I'm looking to get him a little something for it. So far he has a Borla exhaust, eibach lowering kit, Motegi MR7 rims, a front strut tower bar, Pioneer deck, 2 12" blue thunder subs and amp. He might have an intake but im pretty sure he doesn't. I haven't seen his car in like over a year, and he never had an aftermarket intake, and he never told me he ever got one, so i don't think he does. So anyway, im looking to get him something for his ride and I don't know anything about these cars. I don't really wanna spend over 100 bux though. I've been reading and That one ASE chip or whatever its called sounded cool, except it costs like 300 bux. And a APOC intake was like 150 or sumthin. I wanna keep it under 100 bux. I'm open to any opinions so all u guys who are more experts on these cars, lemme hear your ideas.

Oh and for all the "jap crap haters":mad: , my car comes stock with 210 hp at the flywheel, and with all i've done, I easily have over 300 at the flywheel, i've never dynoed her though so i don't know what kinda power is at the wheels....anyway ...latez

Under $100 huh? Well not much but you can go for a FFP crank pulley for around that price www.fastfwdperformance.com/ud.htm (dyno results are there too, and dont forget to add a new belt too). Performance wise thats about it for cheap besides the CAI you mentioned. BTW thanks for serving us and sweet ride! :thumbup2:

that link aint working on this kuwaiti internet, but thanx for the feedback, but im still open to hear if there's anything else out there. Maybe even a CAI that isn't APOC that is a little cheaper maybe but still known to be good. Thanx again tho for the feedback.

Huh thats wierd its not working this time for me now :???: well anyways it was dynoed 5.2whp and 2.4wtq at peak and a max gain of 10whp on the top end. But, besides APOC there is unfortunately no other company that makes CAIs, the only other option is a custom one

shitty about the CAI. ya im kinda looking for bolt on type stuff too. I think crank pullies have a little too much assembly required than what im lookin for. Anyway, if anyone has anyother ideas, performance, looks, suspension, sound, ANYTHING i could get him... thanx

No Idea's, but I still wish to say thanks for being there.

My Grandpa served in WW1. He was in the Ballon Core. Things sure have changed in the last 80 years. They would lob bombs and he and his company would call back down and tell them how far off they were. They would then reset the guns and fire again.

Now we drop bombs from planes that can control where they go.

well there isn't much for performance under 100. but for looks you could buy an array of products anything from ga emblem overlays to headlight covers, to decals...

oh-yeah and no one can dis on any eclipse gs-t or gsx! that little stock i-4 will out perform any stock ga no contest. I would own one if I didn't fall in love with the looks of a gagt SC/T. sorry boys and girls, if a ga and his eclipse raced I'd put my money on the eclipse:headbang:

thanx for the compliments. I love my car. It's just i came into this site and searched for awhile and saw a few threads knockin hondas and imports all together. I too kinda don't like it when honda's with a muffler and intake try to race me. It's like GET A LIFE. But I mean, any fast car is cool to me ya know. So if that honda gots some balls, then im all about it. But i mean, where i live, only a handfull of us actually care about performance. Everyone else is just all show and no go. And that's cool too cuz everyone has there opionions, but when they try to race? that's when its like Dude You're Not Even Worth The Gas. anywho, thanx for the little tips, im always watchin ebay or anywhere to see if sumthin for his gagt comes up. Also I'm taking leave and going home once i get back and ill be driving to Minnesota. So if you are anywhere between AZ and MN then i will stop by. And just so you know engine does not make horsepower. Engine converts fuel into torque. Torque is the twisting force imparted to the crank flange and transmitted to the transmission. In history James Watt determined that the horse was capable of traveling 181 feet per minute with 180 pounds of pulling force. This multiplied to out to 32,580 pounds-feet per minute which Watt rounded off to 33,000 pounds-feet per minute. Divided by 60 seconds, this yields 550 pounds-feet per second which became the standard for one horsepower.
