I'm not sure where to post this, hope I picked right but:

I am big on inventing/designing things, I am also into working on cars and had an idea that Im not sure if it would work or provide any extra hp. Here is my Idea. I found this peltier junction module on a electronic kit site and was wondering if it would have any effect(negitive or positive) if I installed it in the air intake box so that the air ran by it. Here is the kit I found.

It says that it would cool the air down to 25 degrees below room temp. That means that the air would be 45 degrees, if I did the math right. 70 - 25 = 45. Just an idea. If I find out how to post it I will design a prototype on autocad(computer aided drafting) to give a visual of what I mean.

my auto cad drawing, I did it on autocad, but had to transferr to paint so everyone can view.

Good thought but it's too small. As soon as any air flow over it, the temperature rises.

sorry can't post my drawing. also I didn't notice the size. Im going to see if i can find a bigger one. also sorry for those extra replys i sent, i was having trouble with my internet.

ok, well the idea is good, but heres the problem. that device is meant for stagnant air. when the air is moving, it wont be effective in cooling. notice for isntance that in a refrigerator you m ust keep the door closed to keep it cool inside. now imagine the velocity at which the air flows through an intake, this device doesnt have the instant cooling ability that Nitrous Oxide has, and thus it might effect it by 1 degree, but id doubt even that.

people have also tried dry ice in an attempt to do the same thing. that might work better since it cools faster than this thing, but it runs out (and it still only drops the temp by a minimal amount).

Water/Alky injector or a really small shot of nitrous would have an effect of cooling several times greater than a peltier panel.

^agree^

Even a 10hp shot of nitrous is enough to drastically reduce air tempatures.

Any that doesn't believe me spray your hand with it and when your in the hospital with frost bite you'll see what I'm talking about. lol
