Automatic Gear Display

My girlfriend cracked the piece next to the shifter that displays what gear you are in (park, reverse etc) in her 99 automatic GA, anyone know how to remove that plastic piece to throw an entire new one in? she already ripped out all the letters because she thought it would look better than having only a few there.

you need to take the trim ring off them, then youll probably need to remove the center console. to do that, you take off the radio trim (just snapped in), then the front cup holders (held in with two screws), then theres 4 screws and 4 bolts holding in the rest of the console. two screws are hidden behind some covers toward the front sides of the console, the other two are under where the cup holders were, then theres bolts on the sides by the seats, then theres two more in tne bottom of the storage console.

once its out, the selector pops out. not hard, i can do it in about minutes (plan 1/2 hour for your first time).
