look at the pic of the back. dont know if you can read it, but the very top line says "6-12" subs w/ 3500 watts = 140 dB...threshold of pain"
that's funny, i had one sub, 1200 watts, and blew 140 out of the water. i didnt feel any threshold of pain

So this tells you what DB your system can hit?

140 db is at the danger level anything at 130 db causes damage at 3.75 minutes.
Take it from an old guitar player I wished I had payed more attention.

lets face it - exposure to anything over 120 db for extended periods will do damage. As you get louder, it takes less time to do this damage. At 140, your ears should go into threshold shift pretty fast - if they don't, you may have already lost a lot :(

You even get bonus ear plugs....
Mythbusters made a diesel powered 51" subwoofer. They were trying to blow a car up. They did manage to blow the sunroof off which saved the windows.
They hit 161.3 db at 16 hz.

i missed that episode, when did it air?
140 is loud, but they make it sound like you'll be doubled over in pain. i work at a factory and any time you're in an area over 85dB they make you wear ear plugs.
i like their music categories too....mellow rock, 80s rock, rock n' roll, hip hop, heavy metal, hardcore rap ( :spit: ), then threshold of pain. i just held it in my hand and shook my head. knowing deep down.......there are actually people going to by this crap and use it in place of an actual meter.
sounds like ricer math: well, it says this cai gives you 4-24 horses. i guess i get the 24. says this cat-back gives ya 10-22, i'll take the 22. those stickers are worth 5 a piece. that supercharger....hell it's gotta be worth 200 horses on a high powered machine like this. especially when i've got the chrome exhaust tip, cai, and cat back.
i was laughing at the overall product. walmart selling a dB device for $23.....i can just imagine how good it works. i think it said the automotive dept. was about 80 dB at 10 at night. for some reason i just didnt see it being that loud.

yea i saw the mythbusters. they screwed up though, there was no spider on the speaker, and the lack of suspension made the speaker break apart prematurely. also, if the cone were higher up it would have moved more linearly, and the dB would have been higher.
its also stupid that they get an older mercedes with a sunroof. they could have gotten a cheaper car with no sunroof. these supposed engineers should have known better.

161.3 dB at 16hz..... who cares if they didnt do it 100% correct, that is a friggin awesome number for that low of a frequency

why does it even have a scale on the back with the 140db threshold of pain when on the front, it says it only goes from 60 to 130db:???: odd
I meen come on, how are you suppost to know you have reached the threshold of pain if your meter doesint go that high any ways?

oh i still find it impressive but they could have gotten way more dB if the speaker were built right.
