Sounds good. He just prefers his cars to sound like exaggerated sex toys.

It's okay though, when someone hears that they know it gets parked in a garage; it doesn't bring back any memories of hearing a similar buzzing coming from your parents room when daddy worked late.

TBH that was such a horrible quality that it was hard to tell anything. Then you have guys talking in the background. Record another one without a better recorder and nobody talking.

EDIT: Also if someone says they dont like take it a lil bit better will you. Thats a disgrace the way you just acted.

yea maybe its the quality, but it sounds like a few of the civics we have up here with their coffee can size tips on the ends
post up a better sounding clip please

You paid 1500 for that ? Not trying to be rude but you could have accomplished the same sound by taking the muffler off.

I dont like it.

For that kinda money why didnt you just get borla ?

Here is his post.
this is my custom exhaust on my grand am the exahust ran be about $1,500 installed its 2 1/4" mandrel bent pipe, dual resonators and a custom cast tip my car is a 1997 grand am v6 3.1 with a couple tricks as you can hear the exhaust was custo

If you go listen to the sound clip in the description of the clip it says heres my exhaust that I just finished. Paid about 1500 for it to be installed then goes on to tell what kinda pipe he has and stuff etc.

My whole exhuast costed just under $1000.
I have S&S headers, custom flex, carsound HF cat and SLP catback with 2 exhuast tips off 2 denalli's.

The sound is VERY VERY deep and throaty to say the least.

I wouldnt say haters. I just think that everyone has thier own views and opinions.

Besideds that, paying 1500 for that is just stupid. That is or should be quite obvious. It sounds like shit. For that kinda money he could have gotten a nice sounding exhaust, a set of headers and something deep sounding.

IMO it sounds as if he just cut the muffler off and has a straight pipe from the cat back

Just MY Opinion. If that makes me a hater then I am.

I think he got f**ked without the lubricant.

dam 1500 bucks is alot. I had someone throw mine together for less the $200. Im not a "hater" as some people would say, Im just saying you could have gotten alot better for alot cheaper. Here is a clip of my exhaust, its not the best but it does sound pretty decent for a stock engine IMO. Like I said I paid under 200 for it.

i guess my point is - could you have done better for cheaper? you have NO IDEA what has gone into his exhaust. The pathetic 2 line description on the vid tgells you NOTHING. The first clue that a quality shop did the work is MANDREL BENT. Second, I have to surmise the custom cast tips didn't come cheap either - certainly not the "turn blue" chrome junk guys buy off ebay...I bet if the owner were to post up (not that he has to, to prove himself to the online haters) the entire materials and labour list in his exhaust, you may be surprised how easy $1500 comes around....

If you don't like the sound, then so be it...everybody is different...but I gotta say this - for the other example in this thread, his has got you beat BIGTIME...

Actually his 2 line description pretty much tells you everthing. Lets lay aout the details for the slow kids.

Its a 3100 Grand Am
Custom Exhaust set up
2 1/4" mandrel bent pipe
dual resonators
a custom cast tip

Sorry but All that does not add up to 1500 dollars. Now if he had a custom set of headers made in addition to what he has you can argue that all of that would have cost $1500 but it doesnt seem lkike he did.. Mind you, did I ever say it was a crappy set-up or slam this guy in any way? No I made him aware that he might have paid to much for the work he had done.

look man this is how i see it. you ask for our thoughts we gave them.

However, your the one that owns the car and that drives it daily or how ever often you do drive it. Therefor , as long as you like it thats all that matters.

However dont get pissed off when you ask for someones thoughts about it or opinion and then they tell you and you get pissed.

If your going to get pissed just dont ask.

Ill tell you this, with what you put into it you could of got the same exhaust somewhere else for cheaper. Just like everybody else has said. I dont doubt it sounds good but just a lil pricey.

Also why did you use two resonators??

I'm sorry, I used to work in shops, have hand built and installed everything from full length headers back. Even if it's made from complete T304 Stainless steal with stainless fasteners, clamps, new cat and headers $1500 (yes I realize it's Canadian) is still over priced.

Don't believe me still, PM BlueZ and ask him. IIRC his title is still "Muffler Man". He has also installed many custom and bolt on systems in various applications, I've even work with him on several exhaust projects.

Also, as far as Big Joe's post of his exhaust, how do you know he's got him beat big time? Have you heard both exhaust systems in person? Inexpensive sound recording devices like on video cameras or digital camera have a hard time fully capturing the full sound and tone. Not to mention everyone's PC speakers are far from superior.

I have heard BigJoe's exhaust in person and I will tell you it sounds absolutely nothing like it does in the video he posted. I have a video online of my Grand National with a off road test pipe and a full single 3" stainless steel PittBull race exhaust and it doesn;t come anywhere close to doing it any justice.

wow, it must be hard to be so right all the time huh? From the price of a custom exhaust to the tonal accuracy of a digicam mic and the quality of peoples speakers.... :roll2: You my friend, are a male-version of my wife....

Lets see I remember doing a exhaust on a Supercharged MonteCarlo with you that cost about $1700. But that was with Ceramic coated SLP headers, Y pipe, high flow catalytic converter, and a Borla exhaust, all flanges, hardware and gaskets.

BTW RJ, you know the video we recorded of the GN? Would you say that wash bay shot even comes close to how that car sounded in real life?

I want to see what 1500 buys these days . My Borla was just under 700 installed . For 1500 it should be gold plated . If you had this made custom why didn't you go with 2.5" mandrel . Would have made more sence .
