Hey guys, I need some help here. My amp is wired up in my trunk, it gets power, remote turn on works fine, butI do not have a deck. I have the monsoon system so I bought a line out converter to get the signal from.
So my amp has power and eveyrthing so that is not the problem. And im about 99% sure it works fine becasue it was working fine the last time i disconnected it from my old car. And the sub Im sure is fine because I just bought it today haha. Anyways I have narrowed it down to the signal. Now, I have tapped into the rear speakers signals in the amp wiring harness thing. I double checked and the wire colors match everything right. So, I am not sure what to do , it is a stinger line out converter and it has a set of interconnects coming out the end, 1 black and 1 red so i think you just go red to channel 1 and black to channel 2 on the amp right? Maybe this is the problem? Anyways any help would be great guys, I am out of ideas.

Does your amp have a high level input also?

you don't state the make/model of any of the product.... if the amp is a 2 channel, there will only be one set of inputs...it makes no difference where they go - worst case is that left and right balance is backwards...
If its a 4 channel amp, you need to make sure you're using the correct set of inputs (channel 1+2 or channel 3+4) again color doesn't matter at this point...
could it be that you've connected the RCA's to the OUTPUTS of the amp? most amps have preamp outs on them now that are typically right beside the inputs...so its easy to mess up. If none of that works, you need to bench test each one of your components to ensure they are not the culprit...

Yes my amp has hi input as well, it is a 4 channel boss ba-4000 amp. The thing with the high input is, is that there is no plug or anything so i dont know how i would connect it. Shouldnt the SLOC work just as well though? The SLOC is a Stinger SLOC.
I dont have outputs on my amp so I doubt it would be that.
Heres another thing. I had it all hooked up yesterday and I started driving and there was like a pulse in the sub every 5 or 6 seconds. It would jsut be like a little pop in the sub like it was getting a small smal signal. Any idea what would cause this?
Thanks guys, I am really stumped about this. Ive hooked this amp up 3 or 4 times before but this is the first time with a sloc and I have no idea what it would be. It would sure be nice if i had a voltmeter. Oh well might have to buy one.
Oh and by the way, I have made sure the connection from my sub to amp is good, and I have also tried all the different combinations of connecting the interconnects to the amp and nothing worked. Ahhh frustrating.

Ok guys, I bought a multimeter and did some test. First of all, from the output of my line out converter, I only get 0.056 volts. However, when I hook up the RCA's and measure from the ouput of my amp, aka the speaker terminals goin to the sub, I get 19.8 volts? These numbers seem really weird but I dont know.
Again, my amp is the Boss BA-4000, 800 watt max , 4 channel, and I have 2channels bridged running to my sub. I dont have any specs for the amp but it says on the back of the amp, the speaker outputs are 2-8 ohm. So if i bridge 2 channels together, i should get a 4 ohm load right? My sub is an MTX 200 watts rms, single voice coil 4 ohm.
Can anyone tell me anything about the reading I am getting from the RCAS on the line out converter and from the speaker output to the sub. Thanks guys, i really hope its not the sub since I just bought it last week and havent even got to try it yet... and theres no warranty :( . Anyways thanks.

Ok, I checked the sub and there is continuity and there is also an ohm reading of ~4. So the sub is good. Again, Ill go through the measurements I get.
End of RCA's from LOC - 0.05 volts
Output from amp speaker outputs - 12.56 volts (DC)
Should I be measuring the output from the amp at the spearker outputs in DC? Is that right.
Anyways could it be that my signal , 0.05 volts, from the LOC is too low to provide a signal to the sub? It makes NO sound whatsoever, whether I have it loud or soft and whether the amp gain is high or low. I am goin to return the LOC and get a differnt adjustable one that is adjustable up to 1 volt output. Ill try that.
Think this could be the problem. Jees, some people hook up their LOC and are just happy with them, why cant mine go like that haha. Any help appreciated. Thanks

it definitely does sound like the output voltage from the LOC is too low...consider replacing it with a better quality unit. As well, amplifier power is AC (not DC) redo the reading at the amps outputs (with volume on the deck at 3/4) measuring AC volts....you'll find there's almost nothing there (cause if there IS good voltage, your sub would be working)

Ok, thanks alot, I removed the LOC i had in there and Im goin to return it and get the adjustable one. Hopefully if I can get the voltage up from 0.05 to 1 volt, that will solve the problem. Ill post whatever I find and Ill take the reading at the speaker outputs again after I get the other LOC hooked up. Thanks

Ok never mind about this guys. Thanks for the help but I am goin to shell out the $ and get the Metra GMRC-01 and save myself the trouble. Thanks though

wat is the metra gmrc-01?

It is a harness with a chime module that allows you to run an aftermarket deck and retain the stock speakers and monsoon amp in the monsoon equipped system. And might I say it works like a charm.
