I have had these installed for about 6 months now, and i love them, just last week i finally replaced my Kicker zx350.4 amp "Burned up 2 of them already, thank god for Free replacement guarentee i bought :D" and bought myself the Polk/Momo 400.4 amp for the speakers!
does anyone else have these installed in their car?...I must admit the clarity is hard to touch in these speakers, and they are definatly worth the money you shell out for them!
Also a quick question about their subs, im planning on adding 2 Polk/momo 12's and was wondering how their subs are, are they as good as their component range speakers?

The newer ones are pretty good, yes. Not to take away from your thread but there is stuff as good and better at the similar price points, but it all depends on your taste in speakers. Nevertheless they're good. (I've heard them but not installed in a Grand Am...)
I'm not sure how you "burned up" two Kicker amps but I guess that's another story/issue...
Their [Polk's] subs are alright as well (I don't think I've actually heard their latest models but have heard the previous ones); but unless you're trying to stick with all Polk stuff for sponsorship or something, I'd look into other options for subwoofer(s) as well...

what brand would you recommend for quality at around 500 - 750 RMS power...Polk audio has a SR series 12" sub thats running 1400 max - 700RMS "$425 retail according to www.polkaudio.com" that i was looking into, they are brand new so im waiting to get some feedback on them before i make a decision on it!

Hmm, what does it cost in the real world? I can already say $425 is a little pricey for a driver with "only" that much power handling, but it might be a lot cheaper "in real life" (i.e. not MSRP).
Kicker Comp VX will handle that, as will the L7; even the Comp VR and L5 depending on how far you're leaning to the 500 end of "500-700W".
JL W6v2 or W7 (depending on the real price of that Polk SR)
Alpine Type-R (so I don't get flamed by all the Alpine-fanboys-that-are-the-masses :roll2: lol)
Elemental Designs 13Ov.2
MTX 9500
RE SE
Image Dynamics IDQ
Pioneer Premier SPL
List goes on and on really, lol... But that's just off the top of my head.
Polk SR stuff is supposed to be quite good though, so depending on the price you can get it at, that might be just as good a bet as anything else...

It's very subjective, but I just got a Kicker L5 12 and am using the kicker 750.1 amp on it. I'm loving it! On certian music I miss my old sealed box though.

sound quality is a very subjective matter - but saying that the Polk stuff is hard to beat is a little strong :) There is PLENTY out there that far supercedes Polk, but thats another thread <tee hee>
I agree, that price is WAY high for a Polk sub...shit for $425 you can get into a whole host of higher end drivers that will outperform the SR... as manta said, likely MSRP is a little elevated...
Go with your gut - cause its you that has to listen to it everyday....and remember (said this one before) "the sting of shitty product remains long after the glow of a good deal fades". Just cause its a "good deal" doesn't mean its right for you...
