Ok, about a week ago, my "check engine" light on the dashboard lighted up. Now a week later, it disappeared. What could this mean? Does it mean my car is okay now?

Well, in a sense, yes ... but more literally, the problem you had that caused the 'light' is not present anymore so after a certain number of engine cycles, the car's computer will reset the light :)

You'll have to wait until it shows the light again. Then you can scan the computer for the "whats wrong" code.

Common problem........gas cap! Usually happens to mine during the winter months when ice builds up around the cap preventing a proper seal.

Grr... I hate that blasted light! Hehehe my SES light is actually now a high/low pressure gage! The funny thing is.. as soon as a low pressure system enters our area (as in a low pressure weather system) my SES light will turn on. Its funny because my car will tell me if the weather will be getting hot or cold about 12 hours before it happens! So if i see that light go on.. i know it will be getting cold ( ifs its warm outside) or warm ( if its cold outside) pretty cool huh?
