I bought my car a few months ago from a guy that prety much didnt want to pay to fix a few problems with it(a few of the usual grand am problems.. ) I paid to fix the problems. Nothing major.
I noticed shortly later that the rear(truck) speakers had no sound coming from them at all. I shrugged at it since I figured it was probably the deck which was stock and I had planned to replace with a CD/MP3 player soon after anyway.
I noticed that the rear left speaker would come on every once in a while. Trying to do what I could without rewireing completely, I messed with the connection at the speaker a bit, but still nothing. One thing I found odd was that it came on at nearly the exact same time every day(not sure when it stopped because I usually got out of the car shortly after)
I bought the Dual XDM7610 (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-iY5WtIZI2RK/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=070XDM7610) , and still the same thing. Comes on right around 2:20pm and sometimes a little after 10pm.
Anyone got any ideas on what could be wrong? I find the time thing to be coincidental. I'm somewhat new to car audio(though I usually work with home and music studio audio).
Theres two options i'm looking to go with. Either figure out where the wires run to those speakers and try and replace them best I can and hope they work, or replace the front two with better ones(since I have to crank it to get it to a volume I like, but if I turn it up too high, the bass cracks it)
Any idea's on what I can do? I don't want to replace the back two without fixing the wireing first(if that's even the problem). Plus I don't know what sounds decent with what i've got to work with.
I apollogize for rambling on so much.

Can anyone at least help me by telling me where the wireing runs through the car for the rear speakers? i just runs through a hole in the upper outside ends of the seats and thats about all I can see. nothing seems like it would easily come out to reveal any more wire.

As far as it happening at the same time everyday, thats got me stumped at the moment.... let me think about if for awhile.
To tell you the truth, it will save you a lot of trouble and time if you just run new speaker wires back to the 6x9's. It will probably take an hour at most and its pretty easy.

That was actually what I meant by where the wire runs through the car. I havent the slightest clue where it runs after the HU. Does it run under the seats, under the center consol, or near the bottom of the doors? I honestly have no clue where it goes between where it plugs into the HU and where it is visible in the trunk.
The floor fabric in the car doesnt seem to come up at all to get to it if that's the case, i'm hopeing I wouldnt have to take that up.
I'm obviously really new to cars as i've mentioned before. I appologize for asking so many stupid questions. I'd just rather know before starting than figure it out after i've spent four hours and ended up completely off of where I needed to be.

I found out it was just the speakers themselves and not the wireing. I used an old stereo speaker I had in the house and connected the radio to it with the same ends without rewiring or cutting anything and it worked fine.
Guess i'll have to just invest in a new set of speakers. Any idea's? I've only got 220watts to work with and I don't plan on useing an amp. I'm still useing stock stuff(as far as I know of) now.
If it helps any with suggestions. I listen to almost everything from Classical to rock, hip hop, rap, R&B, techno, metal, jazz, blues.
Any suggestions would really help out. I said before I havent had much experience with car audio. Ask me about a good guitar amp(for cheap) or home/studio audio and I know some decent answers.

Memphis makes some great stuff, especially for the price nto to mention the lifetime warranty on their 2 and 3 way speakers

I was actually looking at those exact speakers earlier. Actually i'm not sure if they were the same. They were a little bit cheaper. Looks exactly the same though. lol

those were what I had found. Are those decent enough? i'm on a bit of a budget(just moving from central Florida to west North Carolina.. lol so money is a bit tight) anywhere I can save is good.
The door speakers i've got work great. I've just been getting tired of having to blast them to get the volume I wanted and getting distortion from pushing too much bass to get a decent sound through them.(and it wasnt even all that much)

yes those are good speakers I had those as well and then I sold them and upgraded last month but I never had a problem with them I just wanted more wattage so I upgraded but there is no sound quality difference its just the watts and if you are not amplifying them they should sound amazing

Great. Thank you for your help. I'll probably order them after I get there later this week. I'll post up how I like'em. Hopefully there wont be anything to dislike. heh.
Oh.. one more question. There are regular rounded speakers in there now; Is that going to give me trouble mounting them? Am I going to have to modify anything?(and by modify; I mean, am I going to have to take a hammer or crowbar to something?)

What do you mean by rounded? The stock ones are 6x9 so you should be able to unscrew the old ones and drop in the new ones

That was my mistake. You are right. I never really got too good a look at them. I actually just literally crawled into the trunk to measure what was here. first glance told me that I didnt look to hard the first time.
edit: So, I'm going to have to unscrew the back seat to get to where I need to, right?

yes you will have to rip out the hole back seat to get the deck out and under the deck are the speakers it is about a 1 hour job if you havent done it before
