First let me say I consider myself electrically challenged. This problem deals with a 97 GAGT. I've checked the fuse(good) and checked to make sure the fuse socket works(test light lit up on positive side). Put fuse in and checked lighter plug no power, traced back to plug by interior light switch(behind dash bezel) no power there.

I assume the problem is coming off the fuse box. How does one gain access to the back of the interior fuse panel. Does this require dropping the dash, etc... If so I might just run a new power supply line to the socket and put an inline fues in it. Ideas or suggestions apprecaited. Thanks Pete

Sorry, I don't know the difficulties involved behind or within the GA dash.
Never been there, never will :D :D

But IMO, most likely it is the socket itself that has failed.

They are pretty tough, but they have the potential to carry 30 amps/360 watts thru them.
Over time, they fail internally.

There are several different models of lighter sockets; even though several may claim to be 'universal', you need to get the exact replacement for yours.
