I'm not a Ford guy at all, but I'm starting to like it. (Minus the typical backlite green Ford dash lighting.)

Fulyl loaded 2003 Eddie Bauer, and when I say fully loaded I mean FULLY.

Two tone paint
Painted grill
17" Alloy Wheels
Fiberglass running boards
Class 3 trailer hitch
Fog lights
Mirrors w/ enterence lights
4.6 Liter SOHC V8
5 speed automatic transmission
Two tone perferated leather seats
Wood accents
3 row, 7 passenger seating
Power window
Power/heated front seats
Electric positioning pedals
Two driver seat/pedal memory settings
Power and heated exterior mirrors
260w stereo with CD
Rear passenger heat/AC
Moonroof
Backup sensors
Tint Glass
Cruise control, stereo, and HVAC steering wheel controls
Auto dimming headlights
Auto dimming rearveiw mirror
and all the goodies in the information center... :D

For the price we really could not turn it down. Got it for over $5,500 less than KBB retail value. I only found one scratch on the outside, interior is spotless. We found service records from the original owner everything from rearglass recall work, to simply rotating the tires and replacing the air filter. From what I see it was very well cared for. For example with only 33,750 miles on it she had the fuel injection system cleaned, service and new air filter.

Plus before we picked it up RJ had brand new ceramic front brake pads installed, inspection done and filled it up on petrol for us. :) Also ordered us a floor mat because it's missing one and still have to bring it back to have it detailed one of these days.

First modifications will be rain gaurds, clear corner markers, tinted third brake light, and new shorty antenna.

Very Nice Leanne, and I think you will like it alot for hauling around the kidsa and just as a daily driver. Mom had a 92 Eddie Bauer edition and that thing was great ot her. I loved borrowing it, its just nicer to drive a little higher up I find. She replaced that with a 2001 Jimmy last summer.

Yes the fuel milage may not be the best, but I don't think it will hurt you too much. Looks very nice and yeah rainguards rock :)I mean "vent visors"

Looks very nice, great price for it Enjoy :woot:

RIP GAGT, but Hello Ford!, I think you will love it :)

how ironic, nearly the same thing that destroyed the GT

However, dont let that yuppie-wagon destroy your driving skills, I expect you to still drive well and safe, even though you now own an SUV, which is usually an "Advance token to drive-like-a-jackass, do not pass GO, do not collect $200" card. I have faith in you, and it doesnt look half-bad for an exploder, I love that colour :D

Explorers are nice, I'd almost bought the SportTrak version instead of my Dak ... anyway, the only downside that I will say is that you probably won't like the fuel mileage of the V8 ... you guys are rich so I suppose that doesn't matter  ... anyway, looks great guys!! :)

Hot damn. Great choice! SUV's rule!

22's/24's and bag it :)

TA^Guy
10-25-2006, 09:41 PM
lol @ Nick.
I'm hardly allowed to touch it. I was looking for grills, clears, and stock looking LED tails and I hear that voice from sofa... "Don't you have your own truck to worry about".
I can't afford wheels right now and since it's a 4WD I'm not going to bag it. Maybe a nice 2/3" static drop. :D
However I've bene looking at new tires for it, might go from the BFG 245/65R17s to Kumho SRT 275/60R17.

Yeah Kelly, I think the Sport Tracs look good too, I always have. Much better than the short bed quad cab S10s. And no, I'm far from rich, however the V6 models were rated only about 2mpg better than the V8. And with the luxury this offers us and room for the family I'll suffer the extra $50 a month in fuel.

We really were not looking for a over sized Soccer-mom Urban Vehicles, but this one happen to be on the lot at RJs work when we were cutting up the S10 (along with two other Explorers, and several other SUVs) and it just caught our eye.

WOW, the rating must have really "come down" on the V6s ... without a word of a lie, the V6 Explorer I had would get anywhere betwen 26 and 28 on the highway :)

I like the truck, not a ford person but I always thought explorers were nice. That V8 badge looks Horrible IMO. I just dont like its design at all. John, I think it would look good with a nice set of caddy tails. ;)

TA^Guy
10-26-2006, 09:11 PM
I love the V8 badge.
Joe it's a classic design reused from Ford's early days. IIRC it was used when Ford started to produce the flathead V8s.

Maybe part of that is due to it becoming much larger than it was before.

Not too bad for a older one. Much more popular aftermarket for them than ours but I don't care for that body style myself.

However it does look better than that Xtreme IMO.

I agree, very well done.

Dude Mike, thats EXACTLY what I want to do with my grandmas 96 Exploder Sport (2 door, 5 speed, 4x4 :D) -- As soon as she gives i up, I also wanna slam the mofo and become a novice mini trucker. I think a 96 exploder with clear front markers, lowered 2-3'', wide ass rims, plenty of tire, and maybe some updates to the interior and a new front bumper + grille would be pretty badass (the front umper is rusting a bit on the underside and has a dents in it)
