I have a '92 Grand Am SE with the 3300 engine, and about 128,000 miles. My problem is that the car pulls to the right pretty hard, and I think it is not the angle of the roadway pulling me. I have ruled out improper tire inflation pressure, and am stuck at what to try next. Everything in the front suspension / steering is original. Before taking it into a shop for an alignment, what are some components I should think about replacing?

I would check out a right side brake hanging up. Feel the rotors after driving a while and see if one is hotter than the rest.

^I agree... when the car ages, the rubber line can rot. When this occurs, the line acts like a checkvalve... never letting the brake release all the way. This happened to me on both GA's I've owned.

Would the fix (if this is the case) be to simply replace the part of the line that is bad? Calipers, rotors, pads have been replaced relatively recently.

^Yup... it's only a short piece of hose between the hard line and caliper.

Why are we talking about replacing brake parts? Wouldn't the first step be an inspection of the brakes (he doesn't refer to their condition), then an alignment. All front end parts original at 128,000 miles; my guess is that something needs changing!!

When was you last alignment. DId you hit anything (even a good pothole). Did you notice any smells (like burning)? Does it pull more when braking?

The brake parts have all been replaced in the past 15,000 miles (including calipers, rotors, pads) and still appear to be in good shape, but no fluid lines were changed. I did just follow the advice of feeling the rotors to see if one side is warmer. Both sides felt the same. Have not put it up on jackstands to look behind the wheel yet, though. Last alingment about 1 yr. ago - no problems. Have hit a moderate pothole or two since then. The pull is the same when braking, coasting, or going. No smells or unusual sounds. THanks for any further insights.
