i am looking into putting some racing stripes on my car and wanted to get some opinions on it before i would do it...if i end up doing it...what i wanted to do was put 2 sold stripes down the center of my hood and over the top of my car and on the trunk...i was thinking like a greyish color or white? and about how much is it to put racing stripes on?
any opinions?

Yeah, even though I definately like the way mine came out...I think green would just look bad.
sometimes the 99+ guys can pull it off, but even thats rare...i dont think stripes are appealing to the older models, no offense. they dont have enough "sporty" look to be able to sport stripes tastefully.

Just read pryo's reply, and I didn't even realize you had a 1995...I would say a no go x1000...definately don't do it: wrong color, wrong generation.

Yeah don't do it, doesn't fit the car, no offense but its not sporty enough.
I've seen a few guys with some subtle graphics on their cars, and that doesn't look too bad, just as long as they fit the car, maybe look into getting that.

Properly done stripes will put you in the 1500-2000 range. NOT CHEAP!! I'd put that kind of money into peformance:)

a GA isnt a race car leave the stripes to the muscle cars nothing more tacky than an economy/family sedan with racing stripes

I wouldn't do it. The only way you could justify stripes on a 95 Grand Am is if you have some kind of body kit that makes it look a little sportier.
Adding stripes to your car the way it is would make you look like those guys driving 95 Dodge Neons with a huge homemade wing on them.
I feel like telling those guys to wash their car and take care of the rust spots before putting a wing on their car. Hell, even find some hubcaps... bare steelies look way too ghetto.

I guess he would be referring to having them painted on...but you can definately get vinyl that looks great done yourself extremely cheap.

even painted on, if you are paying more than 500, you are gettin jacked... taping off 2 solid lines, scuffin the clear coat, painting, re-clearing isn't that much
I say you COULD put the lines in, but i'd ghost them, and do it in black... that way they'd be there, but they wouldnt!

Racing stripes were a 90's trend... I think you should leave em there in the 90's.

i agree with matt, but don't let that discourage you, theres lots of other stuff that can be done.....just visualize what would flow with the body

The stripes really depend on the car. Many older muscle cars (such as Chevelles, Camaros, etc.) could pull it off on almost any year with straight stripes. The newer cars today have more curves and look odd with straight stripes. Something tapered would look better, like on Eric's GA with the SD hood, which I want to do to mine too. The older GAs are less sporty looking than the new ones and I don't think they would look right with stripes if it has the stock trim and body parts.

No 1 rule..... Must be at least a 2 door
No 2 rule..... Racing stripes not for 4 door
No 3 rule..... Revert to rule 1 and 2
Honestly don't do it, it just wont flow right.

Chain, I agree with your first picture, except that I can't stand fender stripes. The four-door that you posted isn't really even a fair comparison, the car is ugly and stripes that far apart would look ugly on anything.

Yeah I know but try to find pics of 4 doors with stripes. Not many out there. It is a big no no. :)
