So i went out to mess with the car and realized that i am an idiot. I bought 2 power acoustik 7 inch prefabed headrests, and i go to put the post in the seat holes, and to my suprise the seat holes are about an inch and a half more apart than the headrest. I figured universal ones had expanding posts to fit multiple cars. Now i coulda read it wrong of this set, but oh well. I wanna know if anyone has used the prefabbed ones and made their own holes somehow? If i were to just put a hole in the seat cover and then just push it threw the cushion, would the foam be enough support to keep the headrests from bouncing around. If not i might just sell these dang things.

No, I don't think the seat cushion would be enough to hold them in place.

Take apart the headrests, cut the rods from the headrest off leaving the top section that hooks into headrest and enough to stick out of the headrest, weld them to a steel bar that is long enough to reach the holes in the seat, then weld the bottom parts of the rods onto the plate, and there you have it.

Who doesn't love a little visual representation in Paint?

Thanks man, thats a really good idea, now only if i had the tools to weld or even knew how to do it..... wonder if theres anything else i can do other than weld. Thanks for taking the time out to make the visualization, thats awesome.

ok i bought some prefab one for my imp and had the same prob. mine didnt open wide enough for my seats so i cut the plastic that stops the rods from moving more so i could get them wide enough to fit.

ill try to get a pic of the bottom today if i can.

here they are installed
