I have a 2001 grand am SE, i really want one of the SC/T front lips is there any way i can attach on on my car without switching it up to the GT bumper. I know i might have to attach some bracket work to attach it with but does anyone know if it will fit on the sides righht? i dont want to buy one an have it not fit....any sugestions would be great...an i dont really wana switch to a gt bumper cause with the money that would take i could just buy a bodykit for the car....

technically the bumpers are the same size with the same mounting holes so I dont see why it would fit with little work

I would think that the mounting holes on each side would line up correctly. I am not sure about how the center mount would line up with the bottom of the SE bumper, or whether there could be fitment problems anywhere else. I am planning to take my front lip off next weekend for the winter, if I get a chance I will stop by my girlfriend's house and see how the thing fits on her mom's SE

Why do you take off for the winter?
I was thinking on getting one myself and I live in a "winter" state.
Just wanted to kinda know. :D

I offer to plow snow in the winter with my GA:lol:

not really, but to the question, Not sure on how will it will look. The GT bumper lower grille area is all open except for the seperation piece. The SE has a bunch of lines and stuff in that area and the SC/T lip is basically an extra lower GT grille so I don't think it will look right.

If you can do body work, or take it somewhere, it might be cool if you could delete the single post in the center of the sc/t lip, and then follow those 2 lines down that are on the front of your SE, if you know what I mean.. I think that's the only way it would look right.

yea that would prolly look really good, the good news, well kind of mad news but also good, that bumper as been a pos since i got it, the rest of the car is awsome but someone before me had mesed up thhe bumper, well last night comin home round midnight i through my car sideways round a corner goin to fast an slidinto a bank, didnt hurt anything except put a nice crack in the front bumper, so i ordered a new se bumper for it, i do know a body shop were my buddy works so i might be able to get that lip molded to the 2 points like you said, that might look really good an unique, alot of people have the gt with the lip an i wanted to try to get a diff look with an se cause you dont see that many of them.

I agree:-/ But its good to see what itll look like beforehand. Theyre not the bext chops, but theyre close enough (I only spent about 10 minutes on them, and half of that was in finding a donor car)

Finally found one in black, and then i had to change the color.

nooooo...the sct lip is made for the gt bumper, it would not look right on the SE IMO

idk i dont think it looks that bad on the se with the one that has not ben modified, the one extending the bars down is to much but the one with the reg sc/t lip isnt bad plus no one elts has one wich would make it diff...idk i wish i could see it in life before i would get one

No offense, I dont like the look at all and it is designed for the gt and you could always fin a white gt bumper and use that...look on ebay, junk yards, and the trading section here

Sorry, way too weird with the SE cover.

If you really want it, do a GT conversion and have at it.

it's simply just a no-no

Dave C

yea, I take it off because I don't want a huge ice chunk to mess it up, as well as because of the snow.

those photochops don't look proportioned correctly to me... if I can make it home this coming weekend I'll see what I can do. it will be a silver/black chin spoiler on a white car, so it won't look too funny.

That might be because the SE cover is smaller than the GT cover.

NO!!! sorry it just doesnt look good. Dont ruin your GAs appearance. Your car looks nice just the way it is. If your going to waste money on a lip just buy a front grille. It make your front bumper stand out.

I don't think so. in the first chop, the side posts look like they should be moved out a little farther (so the point comes out right under the headlights), and the lip might need to be a little thicker. on the second chop, the lip needs to go all the way back to the edge of the wheel well. trust me, I've spent enough time sanding/painting/working on my bodykit to know the proportions.

I have the SE and it looks like the bottom part of the cover rolls in. The GT cover is more square. Here's a shot from Albany '05.

you're correct about that, I didn't mean to debate how far it stuck out, I was talking about the attachment post placement and thickness of the lip on the first picture, and the fact that the lip is supposed to go all the way back to the fenderwell in the second picture.

also, don't think I will be able to try the front lip out on an SE this weekend, I went home earlier tonight to take off my summer wheels and didn't have time to stop by my girlfriend's parents house. I'll try to do it over Thanksgiving.
