i tried to find the bypass of the alc/drl, but could only find 99+. does this also applies to the 96-98?? google doesn't help. also, my drl isn't working. the high beam indicator blinks. i did the alc bypass by taking the sensor out and put a fuse in it. it works for the alc, but drl doesn't work. i wouldn't really mind if the drl works, but it doesn't so i wanna either kill it or get it to work.

i just went to where the sensor is--which is inside the defroster in the middle-- and pulled out the sensor and replace it with a fuse or a small bulb. it makes the computer thinks its daylight out all the time. i don't know about the drl because it didnt work the first time. if you do it, let me know. you can also cut the two wires and connect them together. if there is no connection, the lights will be on all the time, which puts a strain on your battery and starter when you start the car.

I've never seen any tutorial for those year G.A.'s.... The only ones I've seen were for '99 and '00 years. Maybe you could give a look over at the other Grand Am forums...
Wow, that's a first... I never heard of anyone yet installing a "fuse or small bulb" in the ALC circuit.... I'm surprised you didn't fry anything, lol....

it's safer than sticking a wire in it. i used a 5 amp fuse so it can blow if theres a short. the bulb will do the same. i only want to disable the drl because they didnt work in the first place. i figured i can get the high beam indicator to stop flashing. it had nothing to do with the alc. ill keep the drl on if i can figure how to get them working. otherwise ill bypass them.
