Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum. I also do not anything about cars except for changing the tire, oil change, ect. But for the more complicated parts of cars, I'm an idiot. Anyway, I'm looking into modding my grand am. Here are some pictures of my car. Its has 117,000 miles on it( it was previous owned by my step mom and my grandma). There are a few repairs that I need to fix first. But I'm just doing a little bit at a time and I have a very low budget(I'm 17 btw)

Well first off the windows don't roll down correctly. Some piece inside ( I believe the x-piece that lifts the windows up) is weak and needs to be replaced. Retail for it is like $250 for the whole kit, he said I can't buy the individual parts for that year, he said like the year after they made them so you could buy each part, but my uncle who worked for pontiac and he is still a mechanic, can get it for me like around $180. and thats per door. So right now I'm just fixing the drivers side.
Heres a list, that one was the only one I needed to explain(have you or anyone else had the problem before? and what did you do about it)
Drivers door-180
Fix some very small like, smaller then a dime rust spots-???
A scuff mark(its white)-????
Fix dent on the passenger side-???
Then thats it for the needed repairs.

Man hit up the eBay. You can find window regulators really cheap usually. I know for my car I can get them for like $50. Word of caution, never go to the stealership to get parts. lol
At least it doesnt have any mechinal problems as of yet so you are doing especially good there.

Ahh, yeah, I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking of going with an orange light theme since the other lights are already orange or maybe I'll go with red.

As far as scratches and rust spots... repair them. usually with rust, you would need to get it down to bare metal, which sometimes that may mean grinding down alot... even getting into welding if need be. I had to have welding work done on my 1995 since it rusted through on the rear bumper mounts and part of the trunk area. I used some bondo putty to smooth the rough spots out. Anyways, you would also need to do some sand blasting.
As far as the scratches, buffing would probably work wonders if it is not deep... but if they're really bad, you may get away with using touchup if they're small, but you may need to repaint the area entirely if it is really horrid. I have a keymark on the passenger side of my door, and i plan on trying to just use touchup to fix it.
and by the way... the pics of the tape deck brought back nightmares of the time when the only thing I could listen to was the radio or Soundgarten's Superunknown... You could easily get a replacement head unit for pretty cheap. Its not difficult to put one in, the hardest part is just the fact that you need to be a contortionist in order to pull all the dash panels off.
