Well my horn doesnt work, and ive figured out that the problem is most likely inside the steering wheel. If i turn the wheel lock to lock, or even just back and forth alittle and press for the horn i can get it to come on and off as i turn the wheel.

Does anyone know what is all inside the wheel that makes the horn work that i would need to replace? And do you think i could do it myself (im kinda worried about the airbag)

Try the fuse. I believe it's #14 in the fusebox, but look it up on that little picture on the fusebox door.

It's like.. 60 cents to buy, and fixed my horn when it wasn't working.

If the horn ring is similar to the 94-95 one, you should be able to access it without any airbag worries. On mine, I was able to get to the contact for the horn ring when I had the multifunction switch out - I recall having to compress the pin down during the process.

I doubt he has a blown fuse, cause he says he can get the horn to work if he plays with it.

The horn can be a tricky thing to work with. I broke down and bypassed the wheel and just got an aftermarket button I mounted on the dash and attached the wires for the horn to that.

I don't think the '97 had a horn ring. Possibly a bad clock spring, in which you would need to fool around with the airbag (not recommended).

my horn is broke as well. broke once when i bought it and then they "fixed" it and broke again in about a month. that was 7 months ago and since it took 3 1/2 days to fix the horn last time (they didnt have the tool or the part to fix it) i dont feel it is necessary to be out of a car for almost 4 days because of a horn. if i can fix it myself ill do it. im just nervous messing around inside the wheel.

It should have taken an hour and a half at the most. What shop doesn't have the basic tools to service steering columns? The parts are readily available through a dealer or jobber.

And you really don't want to mess with the air bag.

well i took it to the dealership i bought my car at and they realized that they didnt have that tool so they sent it to a local repair shop where they forgot to order the part to fix the horn and then it got delayed. I hate a loaner from my dealership though, lets just say i evened out the score for my car taking so long hahahaha.
