egr or not?

Hey everybody. I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I put this post in the wrong area. I just bought a 99 Grand Am SE 2 days ago for $600. Everything is in great shape, but it needs a motor, which I knew. I have the 2.4 liter.My question is how do I know if I have the 2.4 w/egr or the one w/o egr? Where exactly do I look? Can you tell by the vin number? Thanks in advance for an answer!

being a 99+ it does not have the egr. only the 96-98 GAs came with a 2.4 w/ egr. If there was an egr, it would be located on the front of the engine right below the power steering pump.

I have read that some of the 99's came with the egr. Is that wrong?

some have stated that there may have been 99's with EGR's but i dont think anyone has ever seen one before.

If someone could maybe post a pic of the motor, with an arrow going to where the egr would be if it had one, I sure would appreciate it. I'm about to buy another motor, and I really want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks!

trace a straight line from the M on the cover that sayz 2.4L Twin Cam. It is behind the intake manifold. There should be able to see it there no problem. its pretty big.
