Anyone that has the 96-98 black housing headlights, how do you like them and how are they holding up? Im REALLY thinking about getting a pair. They are going for like 98 Buy It Now on E-bay(+32 bucks shipping) and want to make sure they are good quality and won't fall apart or break a week to a month after I buy them

no issues yet, other than the fact that your light output is dimenished severely in my opinion (although my eyes are bad to start with)

Ive had them since March, Ryan, and other than a little initial condensation, they hold up as well as my stockers ever did. as far as light output, just get some silverstars or something and you'll be fine. Personally, my eyesight is worse than most peoples, as I've only got one eye to begin with and even then i wear glasses:( yet I can still see fine with my setup:).
If you get them, theres a little hole on the backside behind the turnsignal that I sealed up, and i get no more condensation. Its there on the stock heads,so I don't know why those dont get condensation, but who knows.

thanks guys. Guess not much problem with these. Other than condensation, which is no biggie, nothing silicone won't do.

Ryan, if i were you i would not get them, i personally dont like the look of the black lights on a white car. there is too much of a contrast and looks sort of tackey, like they were just thrown in there cause you wanted a mod. but thats me. you know i support you in yur decisions and i got your back. so if you want them go for it :D

No way contrast is the way to go. Black headlights on a white car look awsome.

good call Gus, I forgot about that, just have a dremel handy. I'm sure you're more than capable of that though Ryan.

You could paint your own headlights for a hell of alot cheaper.

Just do a conversion to some 92-95 lights, that would be beast

Actually I meant 92-95 Grand Am lights, but since I forgot to put Grand Am no one will pick up on my sarcasm.

If I did any conversion it would be the Silvia headlight conversion. Only other headlights I love and don't see much in the community(other then maybe a couple guys over on AED)

i say you stick with your currently headlights, i have HIDS and didnt notice much of a difference in light output... the headlights are a bitch to aim, but it can be done, i have had no condensation.. fitment was whatever...

I was thinking about doing s15's over the winter but I'm reluctant since Dustin already has them, I'm trying to find some others I like instead.

yea thats true but I just go by what people around my area have, which isn't much custom, just bolt on stuff so the s15 conversion would be like a big thing around here. I wouldn't want to copy someone else's idea, just the ideas are sweet and hard to really come up with something different

I was trying to figure out if the Mazada 6 headlights would work. I really like them. Its just a thought.
I also thought about getting a pair of them but like the civic lights better.

I love my black headlights, although aiming was a PITA and light output is SLIGHTLY less than stock (but with the 9005 bulb mod, who cares, eh?) no fogging/yellowing yet, no chips, no breakage, they dont fall out of aim at all, they have stayed rock soldin since the day I bought them (then shipped them to mark then he shipped them back, and they are STILL good.
(btw Mark, when is your dad gonna ease up on the legality of these lights and stop hasslin` you about getting some?)

These lights are legal though. Theres no reflector to worry about cause its in the bumper not the headlight. Theres nothign that says you cant have a black headlight. If anything them clear reflectors he put in are way more illegal then these headlights.

They would be considered illegal if you use anything but amber bulbs but I run bright white turn signal bulbs and cops don't really care.

yea,I run those bright whites too and have had zero problems with the police. So I don't see why anyone would get pulled over for black headlights as long as theres an amber bulb in(acts as a reflector during the day) and there is an amber bulb.
I have switched back to my amber bulbs tho, guess I missed the look, lol,so many people going with the whole clear thing,Im wanting to back to the amber and then go with no spoiler too,lol

nowhere, and they wont fit your 92 without a complete front end conversion.. I.E hood bumper, and fenders from a 96-98 GA

Yes, I know -- but his dad is hasslin` him all the same :(
And they are not 'TECHNICALLY' DOT-legal, so if a cop wanted to be an ass, he could.

Here's something I was thinkin about the other day, although it only works for those with 99+ GA's. An alero headlight conversion, maybe with black houings. IIRC the Aleros have clear corner lenses too....
Though Id throw that one out there.
And so as to stay somewhat on topic, yea go for the black headlights. Personally I love the look, was thinkin about getting them myself, but I need an engine before I even worry about shiiite like that.
Cheers
