Instead of having to open a thread and then going to the desired page (say if a thread is 4 pages long), one could have the page links by the thread title (like other various forums).

I don't think it's possible with this version of the software. I'll look into it, but that may be on vB 2.0+.

My confusion stems from that the direct links don't show up on search results, or on 'new posts since last visit', which I use 95% of the time.

Ahhh. I ONLY use Posts Since Last Visit. I can see why now.
