I think u'd be good with 4, the 5'th looks mildly retarded up there or maybe the photo is at a bad angle.

Do you have a gauge to check you windsheild washer fluid too?

Sorry, it's just too much... It'd be one thing if you had a need for all of those..

Hey,I always said that gauge placement is up to the driver/owner! But why five? Oil,water, volt, boost, fuel gauges? But,like Brandon said about your noggin is correct...I just hope if you do it you have a REALLY hard head...OUCH!!!!! To let you know I have a a-pod too, only w/3 gauges.

Holy gauges batman. Sorry but it is to much for my taste however I do appreciate the hard work

well the top gauge is placed directly facing me and yes it is a bad angle. but i can see all of them clear as day. as far as the gauges go. they will be(from top to bottom) volt, air/fuel, water, oil, fuel pressure, and boost in the vent. so yes i do have a few things in my garage waiting to be installed. "cough, turbo, couch" so there is a reason why i have so many. and the other reason is that no one else has it. so if you don't like it, oh well. i am just trying to be different.

well i'm glad that i am not the only one that likes it. wait, i am! i love gauges and i couldn't think of any other way to do it without it being a pain in the ass. but hey to each's own right? maybe all of you will change your minds when it is done and painted.

I think it looks weird with 5, i would have just mounted them someplace else. are u planning on painting it?

good luck with the turbo install!

SammyBammy,to me it's not as much being "different" but its being a "innovator"! So,when you get the a-pod completed post pic's,I'd like to see it. Good-Luck on turbo install, should be pretty wild!

Is it just me or are the third and last gauges both fuel gauges?

Wow thats crazy. At least you did it yourself. Looks all cramped and the guages at different angles makes it look wierd but its your car!

The oil pressure looks out of place.

You can never have enough gauges imo.
But where you put them can make or break your interior. What you want to do is make it look like the interior came that way, in other words a professional install. Not only that but they need to be easy to glance at and read. There is no way you can glance at that pod and be able to read all those guages.

Way too much and over the top, IMO. and your top gauge looks like it's aimed out the window. Maybe for other drivers to see what's going on with your engine?

not a bad idea, but to be different, id suggest putting a gauge in the passanger side a-pillar, of course aimed at the driver. alother idea is one on the hood, like the old muscle cars. 5 in the a-pillar isnt really thinking outside the box.

work doesnt seem too bad. well see how well it was done after a few thousand miles of driving and checking to see if theres any cracks.

It looks like its just body filler (bondo). If thats the case I give it a few weeks at most, before it starts to crack...a few overnight cold - in the hot sun for a few hours. cycles will see how well it was done for sure.

As far as placement...ehh 3 at the most would have been alright. I would have put the other 2 in the pocket below your HVAC controls (in the 96-98's)

The more I look at it, I think you could cut some off on the right side of the top gauge, and angle it correctly and it will look nicer. but I see what you are saying about the top one, its only midwindow, its not going to really be in the way of getting in.

A+ for the innovation, and doing it yourself, but it is a bit crowded.

ummm take one gauge away and you'll be all set. that just looks...very....um odd.......

get rid of the top gauge and your all set. it would look pretty good without it.

well the reason i have 2 fuel pressure gauges in there is just to see how it will look with the gauges in it. but i am selling the bottom gauge. i might just go for the 4 and take the top off. the moving the headunit to a different place while taking out the tv and putting the air/fuel, boost, pyrometer. where the original radio used to be. what do you think a bout that. that was the other idea i had. i dunno though. but thanks for the suggestions

I think you should take another pic from exactly where you sit in the drivers seat so that the angle isn't all skewed. That way we can see what it looks like from the correct p.o.v.

Did you ever get the finished product? how does it look painted?? Have you turned on the car? Way to much lighting. What color are the gauges?? any pics of what it look like at night?

sammybammy
01-22-2007, 05:27 PM
it's only primmed right now and looks pretty good. they are backlit blue. can't finish itand get a pic cuz the car is in storage back at my house which is 3 hours away. but next time i go home i will put the finishing touches on it. and get a pic for everyone.
