View Full Version : Electrical question...
2002 SE w/Monsoon CD & Tape.
I'm almost done installing my Sirius radio but need some answers on the ower supply. It's going to be hardwired but I need to know which fuse/wire I can tap into so that the Sirius radio will remain on until the door opens, just like the regular radio does. Any suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

no way to do that, sorry. :( The riadio is control by the BCM. You could get the GMRC-01 wiring kit and splice a few wires to get you sirius to stay on.
So there's no wire even on the wire harness I could use? At this point I just want it wired, so I'll take any solution (such as an always on source). The Sirius is 5v and the fuse has a "2" on it. Any suggestions?

there is always a way - its just how creative you'd like to be. You can wire a latching relay setup that latches on when the ignition is turned on, and uses the doorpin output (that turns the domelights on) to reset it.
Ign on = Sirius on. Ign off = Sirius still on until door opens
It makes no sense financially or effort wise to even bother trying to use the BCM to do anything for you. A couple relays and life is good :) Search it!

Alright people, I need to get this nailed up tonight. Two unresolved issues remain. Anyone with knowledge feel free to reply or provide a phone number so I can talk with you directly.
1. Power supply. I need a suitable wire to tap into. Any will do!
2. Does the antenna disconnet from the h/u? If so, how? If not, is there a break n the cable somwhere so I can connect the direct fm modulator?
Thanks a bunch!

The car is 12v, not 5v so there is a discrepency there. Run a tap off of the fuse block, if car is off and you get power, you have a always on source.
The antenna disconnects from the HU but it is a mini connector, so you may need an adaptor or 2.
Ray..thank you. I gues I left out info. There is a box that I guess is a power converter. Guess it takes 12v and makes it 5v somehow? I guess the highest volt you can get in a caris 12, right? So any wire (besides airbag!) or fuse sould do, right?
One more. How does the antenna come out of the h/u? I've tried pullingand it just doesn't want to come out! Is there a special trick? Guy @ Circuit Shitty said I'd have to take off the back of the radio but that just doesn't sound right or look feasable!
Thanks.

I just pulled mine out but it's not a monsoon so I cannot guarentee it. Definitely don't have to take the radio apart. Some HU have a short pigtail wire to the antenna so check that.
Yeah any unswitched 12v sorce would work, if you tap a fuse be sure to do it on the power side, not the load side.
