Horn went out, checked and all fuses are good.

What else could be the culprit ?

Could have roadkill stuffed up the horn. Could have a bad button, broken wire, bad horn, maybe a relay. Time to use a voltmeter

You have a '99, so 8-yrs old, mebbe 100k miles.

The most likely thing IMO would be a relay, but do some more analysis before plunking-down $$.

Has anybody done recent work under the dash or the front bumper, like install an alarm or stereo or fog lights?
They might have disturbed some wires or a connection.

Is there anything ELSE wrong with the car, especially electrically, even tho it might not seem relevant to the horn outage?

There is a single fuse for 'Horn' IIRC, but the horn circuit also crosses into other circuits (via the relay).
So make sure ALL fuses are good, both those underdash and those underhood.

good luck

And of course, just to start the New Year right,
Make sure you battery cables are clean and tight and shiny brite!! :D :D

Push your horn and listen for the clicking of the relay. Maybe have someelse pulse the horn while you listen. If you don't hear the relay, find it and swap it out with another one from your car (make sure the one you borrow isn't an important one for the car) and swap them. If it still doesn't click than I would suspect horn button.

If you did find it clicking than you have to find the horn. The grand am one is behind the passenger headlight. Pull the wire off the horn and test it for power when someone is pushing the horn button. On mine I had corroded connections on the horn.

Hope that helps,

Where is the relay for the horn located ?

Underhood Fuse Box. Check the lid to be 100% sure for your car. Should be relay #21. When standing at the drivers side fender looking at it, it should be the relay in the very upper left corner.

Relay does not click, replaced with good relay and still nothing. Checked power at the horn and nothing. All fuses are good, maybe the button itself ?

at least its the horn and not something serious. Mine doesnt work either but I pulled out the fuse so I wouldnt accidentally hit it. I hate horns.

You could pull the mutifunction switch and check there. Read thread on procedure so you don't break the horn contact.

I think that might be my problem then. I recently replaced my blinker assembley cause the damn thing was clicking after using my signal. It worked and dont have that problem anymore, but might have done something else in the mix.

What does the horn contact look like ?

did you follow the instructions for the multifuntion where it said to press in the pin sticking out from the steering wheel? If not, pull it apart and hope you did not break it off

The little metal pin that presses against the circle disk on the steering wheel ?

If thats it then I think I might have messed it up, but lucky enough I saved my old multi function switch so maybe I can transfer the good parts over.

Do you happens to have the instructions to remove it properly ?

Pin is not part of switch. It comes from steering wheel. I repaired my switch using instructions posted here. I just did a search. I suggest you do the same as you'll will have to go through many to see if anyone ever had to replace the pin.

If the pin is not FUBAR then pull the switch, straighten the disk the best that you can and reinsert the switch making sure the pin is pushed in. My disk was bent pretty bad but has been working ever since I found out about the "push in the pin" thing.
