I have a '99 sedan. Just yesterday, the headlights started a peculiar behavior. After turning off the ignition they remain on and the warning chime rings incessantly until I disconnect the battery.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You have 2 'headlight systems':
* The 'automatic' DRL system, which has the high-beams only during the daytime, then switches to 'normal' vehicle lighting at night; AND,
* The 'conventional' (old-fashioned) manual system, operated by the left stalk multi-switch.
What you describe often happens to people who become 100% accustomed to the 'automatic' system, then forget they manually turned-on the conventional system.
Which system is staying 'on'?

Thats very odd.
Normally if you left the headlight switch to "on" it would of chimed at you to turn them off.
But if thats not the case. The Ignition might of stayed in the "run/on" or "Acc" Position. Causing the lights to stay on and when the key was removed, it felt something was wrong? That makes the most sense to me.
Now when you disconencted the battery nad hooked it back up. Did they headlights come back on and chime cont? Or did it go back to normal?
When you shut off the car its supposed to stay on a for a few as a secuirty feature, but not chime at you.

That's what he says it does.

Just stating what it does if the switch is on.

Rick,
You nailed it. The stalk switch (which I've never knowingly used in 6 years) was in the "on" position. Sheesh, do I feel silly. Thanks guys.
