Ok so here is the story.

I was putting a fart can on my car. 2.4L 99 grand am.

While cutting the stock muffler off, (which by the way is the size of a transmission.) Something snapped. OOPS! It was right above that teenie tiny little flex pipe. It was a clean break. I dont really know how to explain where it broke. I guess I am just hoping someone knows what I am talking about.

I am trying to think of what to do. I took it to a shop to see if they can weld it back in place but they said no they would have to replace that whole piece. which includes the first muffler and cat. SCREW THAT! they want like $600!

Do I have any other options here?

Are you saying you yanked on the tail pipe and broke the flex pipe up front in the exhaust pipe before the cat?

yessir..

I guess it broke right at the flange. because the whole flex pipe is still there.

I guess what I am asking is, is there some kind of alternative downpipe? or where can I order the stock one cheap? or something. just anything but $600

they could do like a cat-forward setup, but i mean, that's what you get for wanting to get all riced up in your SE ga...

600 is just straight rape though... i'm having a whole exhaust built for less than that.... try another shop

well I just bought a flex pipe off of ebay for $50.

Yeah I guess thats what I get. But the fart can is only temporary. I seriously had the fart can laying in the other room because of a friend that was going to put it on his car. but never did.. I am just keeping it up there till i get my dual setup... which by the look of the muffler thats up there... wont be long.

Now you have the excuse to get that new exhaust system.
