Grand Am Security

Hey- I am looking to add a security system to my 2003 SCT. I would like to know that it has an alarm system in it so that if anyone messes with it, it will let them know. Now, here lies the problem. I have absolutely no clue what is good and bad in alarm systems, or any knowledge about them period. All I can tell you is that I had a Clifford Matrix RS3 in my 2001 GT1 with remote start and it caused nothing but problems. (due to the remote start). So, I am looking for something without the remote start feature. If anyone has any info or recommendations that would help me out, it would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks a million- Shawn

Shawn, there are MANY manufacturers of alarm systems as you undoubtedly know so all I can do is to tell you about mine. Well, I have a DEI Viper 550 Starter/Alarm combo in my car coupled with a Passlock Bypass Module and Perimeter Sensor and trying not to be overly simplistic, he has ALWAYS worked great for me without any troubles whatsoever (not counting the few times I have had to 'tweak' the sensitivity of the Perimeter Sensor due to the movement of a tree setting it off :D). Anyway, I wouldn't have any problems with suggesting someone purchase a DEI product ... good luck! :)

My particular model doesn't but there are versions that do as I was watching an installer put one in a Honda the other week ... the remote was really neat with its little LCD screen :D

How much am I looking at for an alarm that contains most of the bells and whistles, without the remote start. I like the idea of having the paging system in the car, so that if somebody does set it off, I know about it. I havent had time to look at alarms, since I have been getting ready for graduation and moving for the past 2 weeks. Thanks for the info. - shawn

I looked it up on the internet and it looks really cool! Is it the Viper V790? Looks awesome! :)

:bigok: ... I have heard though that these type of systems (not necessarily just the Viper) really EAT BATTERIES :(

ProSound in Halifax installs all my stuff ... in fact, they have installed (5) alarms systems for me now and I have been happy each and every time :)

I put an Alpine alarm in my girlfriends car. It has the proximity sensor (motion detector) and all kind of other sensors in it, but i put a clifford avantguard 4 on my truck. It is totally awesome. It has remote start, tilt detectors, window breakage, motion detectors and just about every other sensor you can get. it even rolls my windows up and down from the remote. i haven't had a problem with my remote start yet like everyone said i would.
