97 Grandam with blown Quad 4. Looking for other engine options for car? looking to get rid of Quad 4.

Does anybody know what would swap in the easiest? Hoping to go almost plug and play. V-6? a different 4 banger? a complete sub frame engine and trans assm swap.

I looked at the following link : http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7402&highlight=quad+four+replacement

It has been 3 years I figure some info may have changed

Thanks for the help

Your 97 does not have a Quad4 in it, it has a 2.4L TwinCam. The engines are very similar but the TC is not technically a Quad.

The easiest engine replacement would be to put another 2.4L TC in there, no other engine swap will be as easy.

Do you currently have an auto or manual trans? If you want to go to a 3100/3400 you're going to have to have an auto unless you want to make things a lot more difficult. If you plan on swapping the entire subframe and trans and everything you could go to the 3100/3400 engine, however you'd need to change some wiring, as well as the PCM. Again, another 2.4L TC would be the easiest way to go.

The 2.4L Twin Cam (LD9) is infact a quad 4. GM classifies it as such.

But i do agree, the easiest thing would be another 2.4L.

Another 2.4. Anything else would be a hack job + wiring nightmare.
