I have a 2000 grand am gt(as seen in picture) I have way way too much money into aftermarket accessories in it and it has some external damage. It is keyed above the driver door panel, needs a front/rear bumper paint job and i got hit and runned in the passenger rear door. Also the paint is chipping on the right front fender.

I had it estimated and it would be around a grand for everything.

It runs perfect and i havnt had any real engine/tranny problems with it but it has 100k on it. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

I don't think this thread has anything to do with this 'Problems and Solutions' forum.

And the money is not an issue i was just wondering for future selling of the vehicle

Let's look at the math.

To fix it up, you say $1000.

To lease or buy a new one, lets say $300/month.

So, in just over 3 months it will cost you more to get a new one than simply fix this one.

Also, you probably have to fix it to sell it.. otherwise it will reduce the value by more than the $1000 (perception).

So, either case, fix it. Then decide if you want to sink money into a new car.

i would fix it. 1000 is not bad if you enjoy the car and it runs good.

You can try looking for dealers. alot of the time dealers will have an independent painter in the back that do work. for example, I got my front bumper painted at Saturn of Tempe here for 100 bucks. Mirrors are 50 bucks to paint. Etc.

I could probably get everything you have listed just in paint work for under 500 at the SOT.

If it has any sentimental value, I would definitely fix it. The price seems average for a ending product looking like factory or better; meaning, metal is straight, paint matching, WARRANTY, ETC.

If the car got keyed, you should just scrap it. Give me the address and I'll be by to take it to the junkyard.

Fix it. Shouldn't be too much to do that. Hell, you could save some money by doing alot of the stuff yourself (Of course, you'd still have to take parts to get painted unless you're good at painting).

Anyways, if you know who keyed it, make them pay for that repair. Or just cuff em in the back of the head, whichever is more enjoyable.

Have you checked with your insurance company to see if you're covered for vandalism? Might be worth a shot.... Here in Massachusetts, I think it is covered... not 100% positive though.

Yeah that makes sense thanks for the advice!

I think I will look for a newer gagt with low miles then swap all the aftermarket parts.
