g-cart??

is that different then MX Carting up near the coliseum?? because I called there last summer to book a time for me and my buddys to go, and by chance I asked if the karts were big enough for a tall guy, and they asked how big I was, I said "6'6", 300 lbs" they told me I couldnt race because their weight limit is 275......

on the other hand, the ones at magnetic hill have let me race before

sunrunner_pei

Liar! He has a temporary decal (p. deck-ill) that he puts on when he has to take the car off the island now. The rest of the time he runs with the pink one.

By the way, I saw a car drive by me on 95 today with PEI plates, I though wow is that shawn... nope must be the other guy.

Ok guys, here is the scoop.

per person rates (best for 12 people & under)
$34.20 for 3 x 8min races

or, if we manage to get 12 people or more, then the group rate makes it cheaper, $350+ tax for an hour (which if we have 12 people, with the amount of races you can get in, is 33.25 per person, 3 races each)

I made a booking for Saturday, April 21st.... didnt put a time, she said I can wait till a week or so in advance to put a time in there... should go for 2 weeks before where is is Speedsport Weekend....

So there you have it ! :)

JMILLS
02-10-2007, 08:20 AM
Ha Ha, during my still unfinished research I stumbled upon a section of the "Cars" page on Wikipedia listing all of the things that are wrong with Cars as per regulations of NASCAR...

NASCAR differences
See also: NASCAR rules and regulations
The rules in the Piston Cup shown in the movie that differ from NASCAR include:

-In the movie, Chick Hicks made a pass just after the restart and by doing so, crossed the yellow line on the track. In NASCAR, that would be considered a pass "out-of-bounds" at Daytona and Talladega; and would be penalized by a black flag stop-and-go if the position is not given back. If a driver were forced below the yellow line, he would not be penalized.

-In the movie, the tie for the points lead is settled by an extra race. In NASCAR, the situation is settled by whoever has more wins. If the drivers have the same number of wins, it is decided by 2nd-place finishes and so on.

-In the beginning of the movie, when Chick is first introduced to the audience, he intentionally spins out the #63 car and the race still continues. In NASCAR, the race would likely be put under caution, unless the spinning driver somehow regained control and continued at full speed.

-In the movie, Lightning McQueen appears to speed out of pit road to beat the pace car, and stay on the lead lap. In NASCAR, a driver would be penalized for doing that by being required to restart the race at the end of the longer of the two lines of cars that line up behind the pace car. During the final ten laps of the race, when the cars one or more laps down are not allowed to line up to the inside of the lead-lap cars, the penalty is to start at the end of the one line of cars.

-McQueen did not, however, speed in the pits. He only accelerated once he crossed the pit exit line. Had he broken the speed limit within the pits, he would have had to serve a stop and go black flag on the very next lap under NASCAR rules. The movie then depicts McQueen just catching up to the pack as the green flag is waved. NASCAR dictates the drivers be lined up before the green flag is issued.

-In the movie, Lightning McQueen pushes the wrecked Weathers across the finish line. In NASCAR, both drivers would be penalized for doing so in that situation, as in NASCAR, the race would be finished under the yellow flag, and under NASCAR rules, no driver can push a car in the last lap of the race. Bob Cutlass (in the film) even asks his broadcast partner if that is legal. The penalty, if issued, would be largely a pro forma matter in the situation depicted, in any event, as the penalty for receiving assistance on the last lap is to not have the final lap scored, resulting in the cars finishing one lap down—if the penalty was assessed there would therefore be no change in their ranking. However, it is reasonable that the symbolic gesture would be interpreted as such by NASCAR, as the last line in the rulebook reads, "Except in rare instances."

-Some cars in the film's first race have 3-digit numbers, while in NASCAR, 3 digit numbers may be registered for cars, but cars must sport a 1 or 2 digit number on their car. Prior to 1972 it was somewhat common for some drivers to sport 3 digit numbers on their cars.

-In the first race, when McQueen blew his tires, the race still continued. However, in NASCAR, if McQueen left significant debris on the track, the race would immediately end under caution, as McQueen had already taken the white flag when his tires blew. However, McQueen would not win the race or the Piston Cup, as he was unable to maintain the speed to cross the finish line.

-When McQueen came to a halt on the track, because the white flag (indicating the final lap of the race) had been displayed, the caution flag would have been displayed, immediately ending the race. However, McQueen would not have won the race (and thus the Piston Cup) as he was unable to maintain caution speed to cross the finish line, and thus would be scored as having ended the race as the last car on the lead lap.

-Modern NASCAR bodies must all have nearly the same shape, differentiated mainly by the painting of headlights and grille. The Piston Cup features cars based on various NASCAR racers since the 1970s.

-In NASCAR, sponsors and pit crew members are determined by the team owner, not the driver, unless the driver is the team owner.

The wording is not exact,

Lizzie: There's only one person who could do that job, and that's Big Al.

Ramone: Lizzie, Big Al left like 15 years ago.

Lizzie: Well then why are you bringing him up, you lemon?

But I do own the movie, so I might have to fire it in and have a look :)

We do a lot of just hanging out. We check out what is new in each other's cars, we generaly do the meals together. I usually bring a "small" selection of DVD's to watch in the evenings. There is usually a big breakfast together on the last day of the meet.

So let me get this straight. We're meeting at McD's on Mountain, going to the show.(?)
Just wondering because I'm in Moncton that Thursday/Friday on business. Plan to stay 'til Saturday for sure. What is on the agenda for Sat. night/Sunday?

Yep fizz910@hotmail.com

Jchiasson
03-26-2007, 08:01 PM
Well you don't necessarily need http:// crap. When hitting the "post reply" button you can browse for a pic on your PC if it meets requirements, mainly file size. If you have pics on a hosting site photobucket or the like just copy and paste the uRl "http://photbucket.com/crap/image.jpg and then put '''' before what you pasted and '''' after it.

02G-Dam
03-26-2007, 08:04 PM
o frig I dont know... I work in a car garage all day... good typer and everything, but not a wizard on these things... I looked further down the page and did see where it says Browse but its saying the file is too big... so whatever... no biggie

sunrunner_pei
03-26-2007, 08:05 PM
You can email the file to webmaster@gaownersclub.com and I'll resize it for you. :)

2001GAGT
03-26-2007, 08:07 PM
You have to make the image smaller. Do you have the images on any type of hosting site?

If you do copy the link then put in in your reply with this in font of the link {img] and this at the end {/img] except replace { with [

Sorry I just like the looks of a Grand AM, pretty much stock.
I thought of putting a bug deflector (or what ever you call them) on mine but I think it takes away from the flow of the car.
REALLY don't get why people put the fart cans on. You can get a nice performance exhaust that will make the a$$ end not look so ...so ...
But that's just me.
Over all nice looking.

02G-Dam
03-26-2007, 08:45 PM
Bug deflector has saved me money on paint jobs... I was getting rock chips daily on the car until I put that on... And I through those mufflers on for the hell of it... We sell them at our garage and i knew that if i wasnt happy with them I could take them off again.. Racing stripes going on it this summer and a black carpet inside... Trying to find Projector Headlights but not having much luck finding them for a GA.. Was looking at Tails for them but not that hot and excited about the euros they hvae out there for a ga... not many selections to choose from.. kinda like the clear tail look.. wondering how they do that.. would really like to find projectors for now though.. Underglo kit on the way for it.. hope to get that put on soon

Dboucher
03-27-2007, 09:00 AM
Hey welcome to the board. Nice ride, great start. I always liked the black headlight covers on a red GA. I'm iffy on the the rest tho, I prefer something more subtle for the tips, but thats just me. For the projectors they don't make any for the GA, theres a few members that have some here but they pretty much made them from scratch. For the tails that would be cleared GT tails, you can't clear out SE tails :(. Quispamsis/St George huh, what part of nb is that. Heard of St George St (where I moved to lol) but not the town. Oh and are you planning to go to head up to the meet next month???

02G-Dam
03-27-2007, 09:58 AM
Yeah, was thinking of going up to the meet... Sounds Fun... The Tips are pretty BLAH... lol... Ive had them on the car for a year now and was thinking on a nice Flowmaster or Magnaflow exhaust with some chrome tips.. but we'll see.... Im pretty happy with my car though and Im sure there are other things i can do but o well... in Time

02G-Dam
03-27-2007, 03:21 PM
and Boucher St.George is in Charlotte County which is between Saint John and St Stephen... Quispamsis is about 10 minutes outside saint john towards Moncton... If that helps at all :)

Yeah $40 to get out. Always wondered if some ppl ever had to unwillingly move, since they couldn't pay the toll. Guess thats how PEI keeps it population up.

Yup I've heard of the night shades, I remember using it years ago when I lived in Colorado.
Might be easier to get the black ones and paint them up.

Wasn't that Mel?

Speaker Material over the tails?????? I dont think id go that far.. It would look interesting alright... mmmm... ok

Dboucher
03-28-2007, 03:00 PM
Speaker Material? I mean wouldn't that absorb like water when its raining? Anyhow never had any troubles with the cops for the tails, lights up as much as it did before.

JMILLS
03-28-2007, 03:07 PM
Ya, the speaker material had many flaws and was definetly illegle and dangerous. Your method would probably be illegal here in Maine and most of the US because it takes away the reflective properties that the lights have when they are not on.

02G-Dam
03-28-2007, 04:00 PM
Yeah but a GA's lights automatically come on if its dark enough outside so If theyre not on.. Its not dark enough to worry about

Nice thing about the nite shades though is that when the lights are on they shine through as if the tint wasnt there :)

Not quite. It may look like that right next to it but you lose over 50% of useful visibility range.

Also it looks pretty dumb when your car is parked on the street and someone drives into it because your reflectors are all covered up.

My car dosent get parked on the street at night.. I have a 2001 dakota with blocks and a torsion bar cranked and a 3" body lift with 35's on it that i park on the street if i go in the city.... wouldnt ever park my GA on the street.. too many morons out there that would run into it with the reflectors showing... if they wanna smoke the dakota it'll be damage to their car not my truck!!! And during the day if they cant see a bright red grand am sitting there than its their own stupidity

Dboucher
03-28-2007, 09:51 PM
Well acctualy the reflectors still work with the night shades. For light I would say that maybe a 30% would be taken off from the output, well the way mine turned out.

Most of the time the meet is actually pretty unscripted. We generally meet up and then decide from there where and when we want to go places. It's a really relaxed meet designed more around meeting each other then the cars.

lol... not quite !!

I am hoping I will be able to get my car all shined up & the rims on it the weekend before the meet....

If I do, that means I will be coming to Halifax to do it, I will give you a ring Kelly, you could even come over to the house for a visit, & check out my Dads Mustang :) (I know, not really your kind of car, but its got a V8 & a 5 speed!)

We are worth it !! :)

I think everyone is staying at the Delta Beausejeur Downtown... however, there are cheaper, sketchier, hotels in town, but despite also having some of the most expensive rooms in the city, they also have some of the best rates for a basic hotel room.... However, I prefer my own bed, only a 12 dollar cab from Downtown :P

That's a helluva long drive for an informal meet & greet. Not trying to discourage you from coming at all! Just want to make sure you know what you're getting into. :)

We meet up on Saturday Morning @ McDonalds, and play it by ear from there. Of course you'd probably want to arrive on Friday night with that long of a drive. There are tons of hotels in Moncton. The Country Inn & Suites isn't bad, we've stayed there before. Most of us will be staying at the Delta. Again, not a bad spot. I can get you more hotel info if you need it. :)
